" Axis Ambush! " The road to Caen...

Post by wappynutter »

Okay so this will be my final reveal guys.....
Its been a very long drawn out build this one.....It seems to have taken a lifetime. From the first Jeep build up to the last figure placing it has been a big learning curve, and a first for many things...
Along the way I have also welcomed a new daughter into the world, and shared many pictures with a few of you! :cheers2:

Before I show my finished piece I'd just like to congratulate each and every one of you guys who has jumped in with a build for this GB... Some excellent, unique and simply stunning works of art have been displayed amongst these threads, and I still now nip back for a look and stare!! Gorgeous guys... well done!.. Jeeps, tanks, landing craft, DUKW's, P51's, figures and everything in between!! Good luck judges, sooner you than me! lol.... :D

On with the reveal.........
For you guys who like YouTube, and enjoy looking at lots of pictures accompanied by some well know music head over to my channel and check out the slide show here...

Feel free to leave a like or a comment if you enjoy the presentation... Thanks. :thumb1:

So as shown earlier as a last couple of pictures on the build thread, the Allies spot the tell tale mud trail, but its too late... the trap is sprung!
Built and finished in 1/76 scale...
As the title suggests... "Axis Ambush!" The road to Caen....

Cracking job Andy. Love the work you did on the figures. I think my favourite is the guy sneaking round the back of the building with a potato masher. Looks like he's about to lob it into the half track.

War in the Bocage was a nightmare with enemies lurking anywhere and everywhere, You captured it well.

Thanks Will, much appreciated mate. Yeah I think either chuck it in the half track to stop Mr 0.50 Cal or round the corner to wake the small group up.
There are enough guns trained on the poor fellas.. :wtf:
Thanks again buddy, all the best..

Thanks mate, glad you like it. I promised it would turn out okay in the end!! Scratch building and making all the diorama bits is my favourite bit of the build.....
I have tried to tell the story, and hopefully I managed to pull it off!!
Thanks again, Happy Modelling :thumb1:

Wow thanks a lot Patrick, I'm glad you enjoyed my little scene
You managed to do exactly what I hoped viewers would do, and that's continue the scene and let the action unfold and play out in your head!!
The Allies are green and straight from training, the Axis are battle hardened and have experience and tactics aplenty....
This is why it took months to liberate Caen, not hours as the British first thought!
Thanks again mate, all the best, Happy Modelling... :thumb1:

Absolute cracker Andy, love it!! :th: :th: :th:    : : : :cheers2: :cheers2:

Individually, each component of your dio stands up on its own as an excellent bit of work, but put them all together as you have done and - WOW!!!! Stunning. And love the pictures - especially the low level close in stuff. Found myself shouting at the screen, "look out, it's a trap!!"

You sir deserve a standing ovation (not to mention a few Mexican waves)!! (x 1,000,000) :cheers2:

Thanks again matey, hopefully i managed to keep to my promise of a special diorama for the GB..
Stay safe and well, continued success with your LCVP and jeep and troops, hope they ready for a final reveal?? :thumb1:

Every so often a model puts a smile on my face. Not because of the veracity of mud effects on a wheel or the shape of a turret or the shade of a uniform but because it captures a moment or a mood. If a thread has the Wappynutter moniker on it I know Im going to smile.

I have read this thread and looked at the pictures and I'm grinning from ear to ear! This is what model making is all about. Bless you and all who sail in you :th:
