1/48 GWH F-15 B/D build

Sorry for the long delay. I was finishing up the egg plane SIG. I used the same superglue that Paul did. I don't think my gaps were a bad as his. This was the first time I used superglue to fill in gaps. It was very easy and the results were good.





I also put shot in the nose. I did the same as what Paul did on the video.



I have also cut out the intakes but have not glued them together yet. I am still trying to figure out the best way to glue them. I should have an update by the weekend. Thanks for looking.

Here are the air intakes. I did mine a little different. I used the gap filling super glue Paul used earlier but just on the visible part. I used Tamiya thin like Paul dis in the video for the back half I then sanded it smooth. Turned out pretty good.


Everything together. Wings next.


Photo etch on.


Wings on. I used superglue on the inside of the wing and then used Flex i File Plastic weld like Paul on the outer wings next the the fuselage. Really nice product. No glue marks at all. Looks like it was molded together.

Nice progress George,I've just finished filming the next part got all the fuselage top and bottoms glued together, will post some update pics later on my build thread and the vid should be up mid week

Sorry, we have been very busy at the George household, soccer season is here and have been very busy traveling around to soccer games. As per Paul I attached the covers and flaps. Be care sanding the flaps as there is a small attachment nub (and I mean small). If you sand it off like I did it can make it a little hard to glue into place. Here they are all attached.


Next is putting the intakes together. I cut them out and sanded them. Very easy assembly. Just watch out as there are some pin marks that need to be sanded as you will be able to see them if you do not. See second picture.




All put together. I did not use plastic card stock on the side of my intakes. I used gap filling superglue on about the first 2 inches and sanded it smooth. Once I was finished I could not see a seam. I did use Mr Surfacer on it to check.




Next I will glue the two halves together as Paul did in his video. I already know I am going to have some gaps. Mine does not fit together very well. I will show this in my next thread.

Just caught up with this one. Really inspiring, George (and Paul). Need to get off my behind and start working on some of the Hase F-15s I have in the stash.

Here she is all sanded and filled. Anything you see white is the filler. I did have some gap's in the back that I used superglue to fill.




The beast is all caught up with Paul. Wait another video just came out. Have to work faster.



Paul did some behind the scene work so I am getting caught up on that. Here is the canopy. It does have some PE attached to it that Paul did not show in the video. I will attach it and paint everything black.

Here all the PE is attached.


Next everything was painted flat black. and one of the engines exhaust have been put together. Paul did not show the whole engine together. I don't know if he is going to put it together. You do not see any of it. I will put mine together and paint just for practice.

Here are all the parts. Like I said earlier I went ahead and put the engines together and painted them with Mr Metal Stainless. I did not primer the pieces before I painted which was a mistake. When I was buffing it some of the paint rubbed off. I also did a wash on them. Like I said earlier they will not be seen so I was not worried about it. The canopy frame and cockpit front where dry brushed.


I primed the exhaust with Alcad primer black. I also installed one of the tail fins.



Here is the aircraft with all the tail fins glued and any gaps filled. I scribed the front panel in front of the canopy. The canopy is dry fitted. I still need to sand off the seam. Will do that tonight and mask the canopy.

Well its been a while since I have had a chance to work on this. The F-15 is all caught up with Paul from the previous video. Here is a picture of it all primed. I used Alclad grey primer.



Here I have colored all the panel lines black. Not very straight but I got better toward the end. I will paint it tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. Well I got her all painted and started the paint scheme on her like Paul did in his video. I did not like the way it turned out. I thought it was to dark and not very even. Did I say how I suck at spray painting. . Just need to practice more. The first picture has the darker color on it and the second picture has the lighter color on it but only on the rear fins. I wanted to see if I liked it better. Which I do it is also more even throughout. So now I will go back and paint over the darker gray.

The real jets aren't painted 100% even either. It's evident when you look at a jet that lives in the sun that the paint is applied at varying thicknesses and fades exactly like your model. Your paint job is perfect!
