ISM Modelling Technique Videos - Parts 1-11
Here you go, I've spent this afternoon filming this as well as part two (which will be up tomorrow).
I hope it helps in some way.
This may not be the right way or the way you choose to build but its the way I like to do it.
I will video build it, but not for the model itself but the techniques along the way
So I'm thinking 14 15-20 min videos and I'll cover
1 Cockpits, airbrushing and hand painting
2 Cockpit weathering
3 Fuselages, glueing, filling, sanding.
4 Wing sections, gluing and filling.
5 Rescribing
6 Masking canopies
7 Priming
8 Preshading & Airbrush cleaning
9 Airbrushing techniques
10 Masking Camo patterns (splinter in this case)
11 Decaling
12 Weathering + matt cleacoating
13 Finishing touches, antenna wires, etc
Any comments please feel free to post below

Re: ISM Modelling Techniques Part 1 Painting Cockpits
It will be done in the next 2 days FR. We were just waiting for the Youtube channel switch to happen

Re: ISM Modelling Techniques Part 1 Painting Cockpits
Yeah, thought the switch had already taken place; isn't that what you annonced earlier today? Okay, in 2 days time then (I think I already asked this somewhere?) and is there or will there be a URL/link ?Lee wrote:It will be done in the next 2 days FR. edit: it just dawn on me; maybe it's in the video...which I never played, yeah, that's probably it.
Re: ISM Modelling Techniques Part 1 Painting Cockpits
Don't worry mate - It'll be posted up on the site once uploaded.
We've got quite a bit to sort out moving all the vids across to the IMS channel from the other two at the moment

Paul,
Thank you for part 2
I'm hoping this might be a useful suggestion. I had trouble seeing what the dry brushing did. Do you thiink a few stills along the way could help seeing detals? I hope the picture gives you an idea of what I'm thinking of.
Thanks,
MM

These are invaluable Paul.
Thanks for doing all of these, there is a hell of a lot of time and effort invested in them. I'll certainly be putting them to use when I build my BF 109.

Cheers mate, I don't mind doing it for the forum, video rendering editing and uploading is a lot faster (I save about 6 hours) with my new MacBook as it used to take forever with the old laptop, so it's not as much of a chore nowCoen wrote:These are invaluable Paul.

Wow... you're all high tech and stuff though.
I just turn the camera on and blabber all over the place for 30 to 50 minutes. Then I stick on my new intro thingys and upload.
Booooring.
Your hard work definitely shows.

Cheers fellas, no idea what was going,on with the white balance that day no matter what I did it just kept whiting out.
That vid also shows why I need a 2nd overhead camera, trying to tackle a tricky modelling technique on camera while watching 2 different monitors (the cameras and my overhead one) it's hard to keep in shot sometimes.

Just put a tiny bit of tape on your mat as a marker and you wont have to keep looking at the monitors mate....

This is just super. I can mask it just super. When it comes to cutting is where I suffer. Is there a trick to the way you angle your hobby knife when you cut the tape ? IT didnt matter how I cut, when I cut it left a blade scratch in the canopy. I changed blades four times and got a gouge every time. Is there a special blade size just for canopies or is it a standard #11 blade ? Your blade appeared to be a considerable bit smaller then the #11. I realize this canopy in my first plane ever painting it looks horrible but this wont defeat me. I will beat this battle.

Its just a knack you get after a while, i use the tamiya knife which does have smaller blades than say a swan number 11 but it should still work as well, make sure its a brand new blade and as i do in the video, go over the line once with the knife lightly then slightly harder on the next pass and you should feel the blade hit the plastic

I have watched all of your videos and I am waiting for the rest. I want to contribute to all the thanks you get too, I have learned many things from them on how to do that and that. I am becoming so addicted to this stuff (building models), always hurry home to try a newly learned stuff, even my wife started to look at me strange

Hey Deron, the airbrush cleaner and the thinners aren't available to ship outside the UK just yet. They're flammable eh? So shipping methods and distribution have to be sorted.
