Bronco 1/35 WW2 War Correspondent Set - Completed(ish)

Post by Rob »

Hi Folks
The figures are as finished as they are going to be until they find their respective final homes either as a based figures with groundwork or as part of a diorama at which stage they will be weathered accordingly. In the photos they are loosely attached to painting blocks.

While painting them I found on an armour modelling forum an in depth review of the figures including photos of correspondents from WWII on which the figures and poses were based - well worth a look (once there, click on the picture of the box)...

http://www.track-link.com/forums/site_reviews/3312

They were fun to build and paint and, despite a few mishaps along the way and some mould lines discovered too late to do anything about them, I am pleased with the outcomes. I will build the other two figures in the set at some stage I am sure.

The Cine man. He will need a bit of work before he finds his final home - the camera position and arm/hands are not quite right...

Awesome work Rob, really love them. Are you going to put them in a small diorama?

Schoof..."The guy on the left got already shot at i think"

Lee... I am not sure! When I got them, I wanted the chap with his foot up to go with a small diorama I have with a Tilly van and a couple of tankers in Normandy and that is where he will probably end up (I will post a picture if it works out). While painting him I thought I might as well paint the others. The man standing may end up on a plinth of his own while the other two will be set aside to await a future project... I really like the sound of using them with a Bren carrier (that one by Riich models looks a corker) as suggested by HobbyModeller.

Thanks all for the nice comments.

Really like the guy sitting on the oil drums. You got his face tones just right and I really like the dried mud on his gaters and the bottom of his trousers. Great stuff.

Very cool! And thanks for the link! I'm going to get these figures too.
Funny thing, the 2 cine guys are based on photo's taken in Hoogerheide the Netherlands, and that is where I grew up as a kid. So realy cool to see these figures and pics. :thumb2:

And your figure painting is really awesome! I always enjoy watching your work. Keep it up!
Cheers
