Paul what was the brand you were using in the video as i really liked the job they did as well. With the Ultimate sanding sticks how do compare them to the squadron sanding sticks as i have a set of those that are pretty beat up but I noticed that the Ultimate sticks ran in grits verses Squadrons Course, Medium, fine, extra fine and then the polishing stick.

Hi all,
I have today, received from Hattons '1' Airfix 1-48 Messerschmitt Bf109E with Luftwaffe decals #A05120, to follow the 'Aircraft Modelling techniques' videos.
I will start the model when I've cleared my workbench and have studied all of the videos first.
Best regards

Hi Paul,
Came across your videos on You Tube and think they are brilliant and very informative, I look forward to watching the rest of the series as and when they come along. So in saying that I just had to follow the International Modelling signs to this forum and get myself registered.

That was excellent Paul.
I've found that with the standard cleaners I have had to strip and clean my H&S after almost every paint job.
They just don't hold soap compared to the Ultimate cleaner.
The closest that I've found is Vallejo's and it costs way tooo much money for what it is.
I don't mind cleaning mine all the time though... it sorta relaxes me.
Reminds me of cleaning a gun... which is really weird... cause I hate guns.
I liked cleaning them though... Cuckoo

I just ordered the tip that you have in an attempt to end that irritation.

Ah yes to get the needle out the front you would need to remove the needle nozzle with the supplied spanner, that's why the harder Evo is so much more user friendly.Schoof wrote:I didn't even know that I could do that. ....... It looks locked by a brons cap........ iwata neo is my airbrush

If I wasnt so partial to Badger Airbrushes, Id give the H&S Evo a try if it were a bit cheaper Id also have a Iwata Neo Double Actin Gravity. At Hobby Lobby here n the states with the 40% off coupon I could get the Neo for bout $50 shipped to my doorstep. But I just cant get away from my Patriot 105. For me cheaper is always better. Disability and Limited Income limit my spending hardcore. Have to stretch the buck or as you guys across the pond would say Quid as far as it will go hahahahSchoof wrote:Paul wrote:Ah yes to get the needle out the front you would need to remove the needle nozzle with the supplied spanner, that's why the harder Evo is so much more user friendly.Schoof wrote:I didn't even know that I could do that. ....... The H&S Ultra has exactly the same needle/nozzle system as the Evo and is only slightly more expensive than the Neo. Worth looking at if you want an alternative entry level brush. In fact all of the H&S airbrushes use a common needle/nozzle so the one in the Ultra is exactly the same as the one you get in the Infinity.

After watching the 3rd episode on gluing, filling and sanding I've already pick out something I'll be doing in my next build... sand off the excess sprue from the fuselage as I have 2 indentations where I've taken them off on the individual panels. It could also of course be due to heavy handedness on my part... lol

I don't see the point in DVDs anymore chief. All these are free on the internet (and much more besides), I don't think I could sleep knowing we were charging for them too!
We could do a thing for members in the future, if they want them on DVD to do a few for you as long as you cover the costs etc.....

I don't have a use for DVDs myself anymore, I don't even have a player other than the PC.
I tossed it a year or so ago.
I would be interested in Hi-Res downloads though.
I'd pay for that.

I know what you mean Lee, but having a hard copy available is a godsend when the internets not working or if the PC is in another room etc. I for one, mainly use ipad for the forum but I could have the DVD on the tv, and still use the ipad, without having to stop and start the vids. Anyway just a thought, I'd still get one if you decide to do it.
Cheers!

I have also bought this model after seeing these videos. As a beginner your videos have been essential to my learning.
When is the next one due I cant wait to see the finishing steps, I find them the most confusing part of modelling.
Thanks Paul

Awesome video again Paul. Learning so much about airbrushing.
Which is good considering my Iwata neo and compressor just arrived. Very nervous to use them for the first time as I have always handpainted.
Can't wait for the final parts.

Top drawer Paul, sound much better by the way. Never fancied panel shading as too worried about cocking it up, but seeing the way you do it has given me a bit more confidence to have a go myself......
(So I've got someone else to blame)
Thanks buddy
