Buddy Build | Tamiya PZ Kpfw IV Ausf D

Post by mincemeat »

It's been a while since I posted a build and SteveAFV hit me up about doing a buddy build, even though I tried to warn him that I'm a terrible buddy, he wanted to press on. I was excited to do this build because of that, even though I'm breaking my "two models in progress" rule. I'm going to be trying something different with this build. I would like to explore damage more and using water. Here are the pictures from my progress thus far.

There are those pesky holes again like the Stug IV.

I used Mr. Dissolved Putty for the numerous EPM's.

Fenders sanded.

Muffler glued together, I'll add some dissolved putty on the seams and sand it down.

I took my Dremel and sanding wheel and really thinned out the underside of the front fenders so they will be bendable. I forgot to take pics of the damage, but I'll get it in the next update. Left fender got a little more damaged than I wanted.

I used Milliput to fill the holes. The bottom will never be seen with what I'm thinking, but it still makes me feel better.

Suspension snipped off. I used my hobby knife to shave off the mold lines.

I was messing around with my Dremel to figure out what kind of marks I can make with the different heads. Not sure I found any that will do the job, I'll have to keep experimenting. If anyone has tips or vids on battle damage let me know.

Until next time.

Hey buddy!

Whoosh in one post he gets ahead of my two week head start.

Nice idea on the fenders. If I don't like how the PE turns out before I cut off the plastic ones I may steal that idea. Mind you the last time I used my Proxxon rotary tool (hey it's ein Deutsche bauen!) I made a total hash.

Great going.
