Backround - brief
Messerschmitt Bf 110 Destroyer
The Messerschmitt Bf 110, often (erroneously) called Me 110, was a twin-engine heavy fighter (Zerstörer - German for 'Destroyer' in the service of the Luftwaffe during World War II. Hermann Göring was a proponent of the Bf 110, and nicknamed it his Eisenseiten 'Ironsides'. Development work on an improved type, the Me 210 that was to replace the Bf 110, begun before the war started, but due to teething troubles, resulted in Bf 110 soldiering on until the end of the war in various roles, alongside its replacements, the Me 210 and the Me 410.
The Bf 110 served with success in the early campaigns, the Polish, Norwegian and Battle of France. The Bf 110's lack of agility in the air was its primary weakness. This flaw was exposed during the Battle of Britain, when some Bf 110 equipped units were withdrawn from the battle after very heavy losses and redeployed as night fighters, a role to which the aircraft was well suited. The Bf 110 enjoyed a successful period following the Battle of Britain as an air superiority fighter and strike aircraft in other theatres. During the Balkans Campaign, North African Campaign and the Eastern Front it rendered valuable ground support to the German Army as a potent fighter-bomber (Jagdbomber-Jabo). Later in the war, it was developed into a formidable night fighter, becoming the major night-fighting aircraft of the Luftwaffe. Most of the German night fighter aces flew the Bf 110 at some point during their combat careers, and the top night fighter ace of all times, Major Heinz-Wolfgang Schnaufer, flew it exclusively, and claimed 121 victories in 164 combat missions.

Some photos of the plane I intend to do:-
Messerschmitt Bf 110E Zerstörer 5./ZG26 (3U+AN) Oblt. Theodor Rossiwall, CO of 5./ZG 26, Argos, Greece, May - June, 1941
Bf 110E, Oblt. Theodor Rossiwall, CO of 5./ZG 26, Argos, Greece, May - June, 1941 Theodor Rossiwall gained 17 victories during WW2. He entered combat in the Spanish Civil War and managed to destroy two enemy aircraft. On August 6, 1941 he was awarded the Knight's Cross. At that time, he held the rank of Captain and led 5./ZG 26. Rossiwall´s Bf 110 wears the yellow marking typical for the Balkans campaign. Subsequently, he served with nightfighter units NJG 101, NJG 4 and became the CO of the entire ZG 76 in August, 1943. As can be seen, the Ace of Spades was not exclusively the unit badge of JG 52. The Clog is the unit crest of II. Gruppe of ZG 26.
Messerschmitt Bf 110E Zerstörer 5./ZG26 (3U+AN) Oblt. Theodor Rossiwall, CO of 5./ZG 26, Argos, Greece, May - June, 1941
Photo 01: Bf 110's of II./ZG26, with 3U+CC of the Gruppenstab nearest the camera 3U+AN of 5.Staffel carries the Geschwader emblem on the nose and the n. Gruppe clog emblem on the engine cowling. The 4.Staffel machine behind it also carries the same emblems. 3U+AM has light coloured rudders, possibly yellow, perhaps an identifying feature of the Staffelkapitän's aircraft. Note the strong contrast of the camouflage colours on the wing of the Bf 110 from which the photograph was taken.

Black one is boring
Me thinks it will be greece with ace of spades. Still undecided but leaning that way.
The part count is more than my fingers and toes.
There is no coat hanger on the front

Made a start on the cockpit and sprayed revell 91 steel as base for seat.
Applied hairspray and waited for it to dry. I then applied Revell 77 and scratched a little bit.
I then put the dash together and continued to paint the rest of the cockpit.
Never seen these before on the foot welds, think it is a nice touch.
If I get a chance tomorrow I will give it a wash and apply some pigments and dust etc...

Ok, made a little progress on this when the kids let me. I used Humbrol and AK products to weather the cockpit. I applied Humbrol blue grey wash (used on Tank grey) on the interior to give it that blue smurf look to the paint.
I used a miture of the earth and dust pigments.
I darkened (damp earth) the belt straps because they looked new and out of place.
Just to see if your actually paying attention I put this in, my wife had it in the attic from her days in Bonn.
Next Part, rear cockpit.
Again I applied the blue grey wash and dry brushed a little here and there.
Followed by pigments again. Sorry photo is a bit washed out and it is hard to see the detail.
Put it all together.
Will leave it for a few days and judge if more dust is needed etc...

Thanks guys.
I like to weather the WII planes a bit because these planes sat out in the open on grass fields etc...and well they got used and abused.

WoW...Fantastic how you fixed it!
Hmm have this kit also, read it had s o m e fit issues, but following your build...
oh well now I know what to expect! (although I expected better from Eduard)
Your doing a great job mate! Like Your attitude, that accident would have ended it for many of us I think.

Sorry for no updates in so long. But with the weather being so good I'm in full BBQ mode.
So just pre-shaded a little over white primer. I was a little concerned of loosing or making the Rlm base colour too dark so I primed in white.
Followed by first pass.
I have lost a lot of detail on the left wing with the spill of cellulose but I am happy with it for now.
More later back to BBQ.

Okay
Nearly there. Can of pee came out ok.
Put it on with no troubles
Put some earth effects and mud on the wheels to represent this plane on the grass.
Sprayed some tamiya smoke on her before spraying a matt coat.
Will put up the finished pics on other thread.
I will say this here just in case anyone actually gives a poop. This kit is a pig in many ways. The landing gear construction and placement is the worst I have built or seen to date. Probably why they discontinued this model. Where your supposed to attach the landing gear is actually behind the wall of the engine and what your supposed to attach it to would not support a fart. There where so many fit issues with the engines to mention that I just wont.
It is a nice kit in the end and I really like how she turned out but be prepared for a lot of work. If your interested in building one of these this size I would go for the dragon model.

Thanks guys much appreciated.
Goose, don't let me put you off. It turns out into a good model. All I say is be prepared to work for it. This model is discombobulated

so if you want one keep an eye out on evil bay. I got mine for €30 but I would not pay more because dragon have one in 1/48 that is supposed to be a better build for around €40.
