International Scale Modeller

Hello everyone,

Was going past a games workshop and saw these figures in the window, the detail was very nice and I couldn't resist the purchase even thought I don't collect Warhammer.

I have built the figure already (no pictures sorry), each model comes in 7 parts ((mix and match)) and fits together perfectly. I chose to build it with the robes as I wanted a crack at painting flowing material.

I have painted the base colours and am currently working on the robe in several layers. I will then mask off the robe best i can on such a small model to paint the power armor.

I have not done a figure since I was a teenager, let me know what you think or if I could improve on something, I have forgotten a lot of the techniques.

DULLED HIGH LIGHTS A LITTLE

Started to do the initial high lights of the power armor and base coat a few of the other details. (also tried to mask the robe off a little which took way too long and i think might be pointless)

Still a long way to go, this takes much longer than I remember and I forgot to do any kind of wash, which from what i remember about figure painting is kind of vital....doh

Ripped off all the masking it was pointless and didn't work, stupid idea...

Further highlights to the power armor now done, feel like the model is really "taking shape" now, as the term goes.



I feel the last highlight might have been a bit too much of a step, will try to ink wash the power armor to dull it down i think then 1 more highlight and the final high lghts

Damn impressive! I never could quite get the 'hang' of flowing robes, capes, what-have-you, but that looks awesome.

Why thank you. I have finished this model now (will post pic later). Currently doing another man from the same unit, which I believe I have done better with a new technique. Will post a progress pic soon if anyone interested.

Any constructive criticism welcome as I trying to perfectly miniature painting skills.

The robes are amazing....like the shading you gave them
Small details like skulls and weapons are cleanly done as well
I think you are still working on the armor as maybe a pin wash to get the small crevices darker
I don't think you need me critiquing anything though, you have this nailed

I was toying with the idea of a pin wash. Thanks for comfirming it's needed.

Very talented I do like these figures and I can see the appeal when they look this good and im interested to sde how they turn out with the pin wash

They look so good, don't go too over board on weathering...sometimes muddles the look
