International Scale Modeller

Hi everyone!
I made this diorama almost two years ago. It shows a Soviet T-62 wreckage in Afghanistan. Such tank wrecks are vey common there and are still standing around today.
I used the Trumpeter T-62 mo.1972 in 1:35 scale. It is a superb kit! The main reason why i made a wreckage was the way how the wheels have to be assembled - the wheels and the rubber tires are separate, so i started to build the tank as a wreck which burnt out completely. This gave me a nice opportunity to test some heavy rust effects which was big fun. I have to do this again at some point.

Wow that's a lot of weathering and the best rust effects I've ever seen love the battle damage as well it's very convincing

Well i thought the tank is standing there for at least 20 years already so i tried such a blending effect.

I don´t think my decent skills are good enough for this, till now no one asked me to participate in a magazine. I think this is more the area where serious model builders share their techniques. Those people can be found on exhibitions where the people from the magazines are aswell - thats how they get known to each other and agree on projects for magazines.

I'm with Norm,
I've always stayed away from knocked out afvs because I couldn't bring myself to buy a kit and blow it to hell and gone.
Some sort of silly mind game thing I guess.
I may try and overcome that this summer after seeing "Scrap Metal".

Mate when I was in the army out in Kosovo we saw quite a few wagons in a similar state you have done the build justice you really have. I even went a dug some old photos out the model brought back a load of great memory's which for some of us is why we build the models we do.
So I will say again great build and thank you for showing us your awesome build.

Well, i could not do that to a Tiger I for example. A T-62 is something not that related to my heart as other tanks, so i had no bad feelings back then. However, this did mean that i had no interest in the tank itself or the project, i always wanted to build a wreck and test some techniques for rust effects so a model you do not care that much for is ideal. I have to do such a diorama again at some point, another modern tank would be cool as there are plenty of coloured reference pictures.

Well, if it was a Dragon kit for 50€ i would have done this, but a Trumpeter kit for 22€, thats alright However, it is a superb kit, you know what i mean as you made one for the group build with Peter and Sebastien. There are so many possibilities with this kit and thats what makes it so great.
