This kit was a kit for my younger brother on his 14th birthday. We were supposed to build it together but a lack of time on my part and no interest on his behalf, it has just gathered dust for the last year. I took the liberty to finish the kit for him, and giving him the final result. He's really into WWII armor, so I think he will be happy, even though he didnt finish it himself. The WIP thread will be pretty sparse since I just finished the Vietnam GB and just want to build some quick stuff to relax. Cheers!

Were we left off:

This kit is gorgeous with some really nice detail:

Primed and pre-shaded:

The kit is excellent so far with the usual Tamiya-fit and superb detail. Gonna paint the tracks in rust and then paint the body tonight. Until next time,

cheers

Made some progress the last couple of days. The entire model is now glossed and ready for washes.

Painted the tracks with my own mix.

Image

The first time im doing tracks, so i took after some other modellers by painting the tracks in rust, then using a black wash and drybrushing metal. Before and after:

Drybrushed:

Washed:

I noticed I was missing one link, so I had to improvise:

Masked the white using liquid mask:

Chipped and drybrushed:

All set for varnishing, even the figure!

So now im gonna wash the crap out of this tank! Until next time,

Havent been posting so much updates lately, but thats cause im taking things slow, building up some momentum for 2015 :) Anyway, this bugger is finished and here are the final WIP-photos.

All decaled up, a massive 5 decals!!!! :D

All varnished and protected:

Washed and weathered. I used Ultimate dark dirt and vallejos game color brown wash. Also used rust wash for some of the details.
Image

My first ever figure. Im quite pleased with the result. Pretty easy as its a larger scale (1/48) and im dreading the moment when i will paint 1/72 figures.

All ready for assembly:

Starting with the tracks:

Didnt bother to weather the underside:

The model is flat-coated before assembly:

One of the trickier parts of the build, getting the cables to look realistic.

And here it is finished:

Will make a reveal section in the Land gallery aswell were I will post some better photos. I have very much enjoyed working on this brilliant kit by Tamiya. For my first tank, I think I managed pretty well and I think my brother will be pleased when I give it to him. Until next time,

cheers

Honestly, I did not get caught in Panzer-fever. I get what people like about it, the quick results and so forth, but its not for me :P Armor-building feels too monotone for me, but it was fun to have a go at it. Maybe I will enjoy it more in the modern armor SiG thats coming next year.
