Once ive done the tracks ill move onto my Rising Sun build. If I haven't heard back after another week from MENG ill just deal with hull as is and hope for the best. Im really disappointed as everything else ive seen about MENG has been fantastic.
Have you tried the warm water method
I may softer the styrene a bit so it can bend back into shape
I don't know if it works on this piece but i managed to straighten sone smaller pieces this way
Just don't use boilling water

hi guys
so the sig is finished already but as you may have seen i had the reveal up and running in time
but that leaves me with the final update
since i completed the building stages last time so now will be about the painting and the weathering

so let's get going
Image
once the building was done i primed the entire vehicle with grey primer from ammo
this primer was left to dry for 24 hours
then i sprayed the entire vehicle with the first color wich is duck egg green from Vallejo

Image
once the paint ws dry i started the masking
because this subject has very complex lines and a lot different shapes and surfaces i didn't use masking tape but i used poster buddies or white tag
this ensures that there is a better cover over the panels and raised details

Image
then the second color was sprayed on
this time it is russian green by Vallejo

Image
then a little more masking and the last camouflage color
this is black and just like the others this is Vallejo modelair

Image
Image
then it looked like this

Image
then work went on with the anti mine devices
they where masked in the same manner as the camouflage
the 2 ecm devices in the middle where gently removed by adding a little bit of tamiya extra thin to soften the old cement
this makes the masking a bit easier
you can see the color of green that is called for by the instructions
that is model color uniform green by Vallejo
it is much brighter then the color i have seen in the reference
so i changed it into tank green from the modelair range by Vallejo
but to make some chipping on the ploughs i decided to paint them with mr metal stainless steel

Image
the steel was covered with ak chipping fluid and once that was dry i sprayed on the tank green

Image
then with a old brush and a bit of water i started the chipping
the teeth and blade on the plough are chipped untill the green was almost gone
this is because they go in the ground and the sand and soil will scrape of the paint in an instant

Image
the teeth only have some green paint left on the end

Image
then i started to paint the dust sleaves on the cannons
they are painted with Vallejo modelcolor canvas

Image
then i used Vallejo modelcolor middlestone to highlight the raised details and creases in the cover

Image
then the cannons where painted
this is done with mr metal dark iron
this was brush painted on the gun and on the part where the shell ejectors are
when you brush paint this paint it looks very similar to the very dark metal used to make the real barrels

Image
Image
all the sensors and counter messures where colored in
this is done in 2 layers
first a coat of silver from mr metal
then once this had dried i covered the silver with clear blue from tamiya

Image
the same was done on the rear of the turret but here clear red from mr hobby aqueous was used instead of the blue

Image
the end plate of the exhaust was painted in mr metal stainless
this would rust in in time but this is show vehicle so only the paint has burned off for now

Image
just like with the sensors and rearlights the 2 front lights where painted
this time the covering color is mr hobby clear green

Image
then the missle launchers where finished
the only thing left where the end caps on both sides
the front caps are painted with Vallejo black
the rearcaps are sprayed with mr hobby flat red
and that completes the painting

Image
i then coated the entire vehicle with Vallejo satin varnish
once that was dry i started to do the washes
and again since this is a new vehicle i don't need heavy weathering so the washes are only used to highlight the details and panel lines
i started with mig productions brown wash
this was applied on the duck egg green

Image
then the green patches where washed
this time i used mig productions dark wash wich is basicly a black wash

Image
when the washes had time to dry i continued working them
they need to be cleaned up now so i used a flat number 2 brush and ak's thinner for washes to remove the excess wash and i work towards details and raised parts
this way you push the wash in the recessed areas and up against raised details
the excess was whiped off with kitchen towel and any remains where whiped off with the brush
make sure that the brush is moist with thinner and not soaked , if you use to much thinner it can damage the layer of paint that it is on
this can happen to both enamel based and acrylic paints if it is on there long enough so be aware of that and don't use too much thinner and don't leave it on the model too long

Image
after the wash and thinner residue where dry the vehicle was varnished again this time with a flat/matt varnish
then i added some dust to the lower parts
this is dark mud pigment from mig productions
this is applied with a old paintbrush and rubbed on the surface
this causes the pigment to get in the rough surface of the varnish and surface detail that is molded on the model
it is only for a layer of dust with this build for a heavier coat or mud effect you can add some varnish or ak/ammo washes in a dust or earth color and maybe add some plaster for extra texture

Image
the wheels where dusted with mig productions europe dust and then placed on the vehicle

Image
some soot was added with mig produtions black smoke pigment

Image
since the vehicle was ready for the tracks i started with those
they are painted black and then the raised parts where dry brushed with Vallejo gun metal grey (modelcolor)

Image
the tracks where then dusted with the same europe dust pigments i used earlier
it looks a bit heavy now but after a shake and a good rub with a towel/cloth the excess falls of and the dry brushed metal color is revealed

Image
the tracks where then fitted to the hull

Image
all the side armor plates where added

Image
some more soot colored pigments where added
this time on the slat armor that covers the exhaust

Image
the turret was fixed in place and the missle launchers added

Image
the lower parts of the side skirts where dusted with the europe dust pigments
the inside of the tracks where also dusted

Image
then all the clear vision ports and sensors where painted
i followed the instructions for this and it seems all have to be clear blue so that is what i did
i found out that i forgot the headlight on the rightside of the vehicle
this was painted black but i am not sure what kind of light it is but i guess for use with ir equipment

Image
and then it was all done
so that means that i have nothing left to show for this build
i think that i showed just about everything i did but if you want to know something i will try to explain what i used for it and how it was done
so thanks for stopping by and untill next time
cheers Mark

Thank you very much Antònio
To be honest i do very little modern armor
I did make some in the past but i build more german armor from WWII then anything else
But sometimes i like the look of a certain vehicle and decide to just try it
Cheers Mark

Excellent work! Such a badass looking thing; you did a great job on the build and on the camo. The chipping and light dust effects are awesome :thumb2: I really like it!

Thanks
It is a pretty straight forward kit to build
The tracks look like they are a lot of work but it actually is pretty easy and doesn't take too long to do
Have fun building yours
