Hay there's a Blenheim flying again, I didn't know that after that crash at Duxford some years back I thought we'd never see one fly again :th: :th:

What kind of plane is this one? A medium bomber?
That is the rear view of a Bristol Blenheim.

Looks like you had nice weather for the season opener at Old Warden. Nice to see the Tiger Club also showed up with some aircraft.

Today while waiting for UPS to show up got some more work done in preparation of next weekends goal. Giving Boo her face.

Put the finishing touches on the mask.

Image

And cut it all out.

Image
That is an A2 cutting mat under the mask to give you a sense of scale of the white board.

Whilst doing the cutting I got all four of the airbrushes stripped down and true the ultrasonic cleaner.

Image

Looks like doing just color change clean outs doesn't leave the all that clean after all because this is what the water looked like when they where all done.

Image

It started life out like windex clear blue :jd:

As always happy modeling and keep sticking styrene.

Sweet airshow pics! Kids are still too young for those but some day soon. Maybe I can try the Flight Museum. That Boo is looking great, V. Top job.

Well, I got some work done on the P-51; namely finished up the cockpit and glued the fuselage together. Also sprayed up some styrene sheet with some primer and black base to test the metallic paints out before I use them. The 1/72 is so small that painting a small area somewhere to test just isn't possible ><

Otherwise, typical weekend where somehow I did way more than should be possible to do in terms of kiddo activity...I'm entering Monday exhausted...

It looks like I'm in for another weekend with limited bench time. That's ok, I guess...

Hopefully I can at least fix the tailerons on the P-51 (I must have tweaked one after I set it down before the TET had cured) and finish cleaning up the seams. A dream weekend given what I have to do outside of the hobby would be maybe even priming it, but we'll see. Alternatively I might just sit and listen to some of the work stuff I'll be taking home and sand the base coat back on the GTi. We'll see.

I wish I had that kind of sense or self control...

Anyway, good luck to one and all. Happy Friday! :cheers2:

Off to Newark today to have a tour around the dungeons at the castle. Going mad with my senior railcard that I got the other month, go everywhere on the train now, loving it.

Flying club annual dinner and awards tonight to which I am driving myself to avoid the inevitable hangover. Tomorrow I'm hoping to get the lawns scarified as they are full of moss and clover and I might get some more work done on the NMF which is actually not far off constructed.

Tidied the shed out today, it get's done once a year. Surprising how much room is in there once everything is put back all neat. Doesn't last long of course. Got some plants out in the border and am going to have a crack at the drive tomorrow, get all the weeds out and give it a good dose of weedkiller.

YES! Success! :D

I just - nervously - ripped the masking tape off, and it turned out way better than I had hoped! Sure, some bleeding, but waaaay less than I had anticipated. Suggestions from ISM that I've successfully practiced today: Be really careful about ensuring the edges of the tape is properly pressed down, which also applies to any tape covering any tape. Also start by brushing from the tape to the plastic. Don't overdo the number of layers. And as always - keep the layers thin. All of that - it does pay off!

That actually sounds really satisfying. I desperately need to spring clean the office and the garage. Nothing like finishing up a tidy and having that moment of zen after.

Well, I'm getting the weekend I deserve but not the weekend I need right now. So much work to do that I'll be lucky to get any time at all for bench time, and if that happens it'll be today if at all. Maybe I'll stop at one or LHS on my way home just to pretend.

Happy Friday, everyone!

Missed posting yesterday, but I didn't do any modelling anyway. I celebrated 10 years at my current employer with my colleagues, and had a really great work-day instead. No beer, but a lot of cake! But, today I expect to do some modelling: Applying decals to my Boulton Paul Defiant, followed by matte varnish. If I don't get the varnish good this time, I'll change brand. Tomorrow, I expect to glue (at least most of) the external details while doing the laundry.

Yey! Filled with adrenalin, I decided to join the Swedish Air Force Volunteers and apply for a 2-week military introduction training course as well as buying some paints, varnish, primer and washers for my next project, the Mosquito. Ah, and I realize I need to strap on those running shoes ... What have I done?!

:D Well, our JAS 39 Gripen (or JAS for short as we Swedes call it), is basically a modern, single-seater, single-engine version of the multi-role Mosq, of which we actually had 60 during the late 40's, early 50's... :D

I have the Italeri 1/48 Gripen in the stash, super looking aircraft. You Swedes know how to build a good bit of kit.

BOAC (British Airways Overseas Corporation) used to run Mossies to Sweden during WWII with pax seats in the bomb bay.

When I was in the mob we had some Draakens visit RAF Coningsby when I was on F4's. They had the twin belly tank fit and you could hardly get a hand between the tanks and the deck. I've never seen such a dodgy looking fit!
Regards, Dave.

Happy Friday, everyone!
Well, it was just as I feared, no bench time. Heavy sigh. Though I did rearrange my office a little, cleared out some books from the shelves to make room for the boxes of kits. Reading, shmeading. (I like books, I do, but they could go elsewhere, so elsewhere they went!)

Success! Kit completed!

:jd:
:eeek: Maybe you should lock yourself inside next time you finish a kit, the high seems to get you into trouble

I feel it is my duty to start at the top of the list and see how far I get; in the interests of science of course.

Science is important. Perhaps I will need to replicate this experiment. You know, to confirm or disprove your result. For the greater good.

I just now was notified by the Mrs. that she's taking the kiddos to the in-laws this weekend since I've been so buried with work and so on. "I think you need a weekend to chill."

And it's a three day weekend...

Excitement, I has it.

This weekend:

1. Commit to the Barkas build
2. Get (at least) the running gear done on the Pz III I've bought for that build

Oooh, the C-word. I'll be looking for the build, then. I'm not a tank guy, but I find the build threads fascinating...so much weathering detail and technique...so many wheels.
