French Somua S35 Medium Tank 1/35

Post by TheTroyster »

I thought this might be a nice little kit to build - it has these new tracks from Tamiya that look interesting to me, and since this is an out of box build - I figured theses new tracks have to be better than the typical ruberband tracks in the older Tamiya kits.

I pick camouflage pattern, primer on model

Post by TheTroyster »

So I'm interested in doing this painting option:

First I prime the model in black (which is not normal for me).

Let that dry up for most of the day.

Big day at the paint booth...

Post by TheTroyster »

Started off with the main tank color "sky"

After a couple hours I tape off areas and paint the second color: Olive Drab:

Next up is the turret: I tried to tape off the camouflage pattern but realized that was pointless. So I took this pen and hand marked off the pattern - as the pattern has a black outline to it on the actual tanks:

I'll be hand painting those patterns in the morning.

More taping off and spray the third camouflage pattern: Red Brown.

I like that turret camo. What sort of pen is that you used for the outline.

I don't know the brand but if you look at the picture I have the pen there showing the only markings it has on it. My dad gives them to me - good for models - suck for writing.
