Metro 2033

Post by Tiger213 »

Image

In 2013, a nuclear war occurred, forcing a large amount of Moscow's surviving population to relocate to underground metro stations in search of refuge. Eventually, the communities settled in the underground train stations developed into independent states.

Now the year is 2033, factions emerged, ranging from the independent peacekeepers the "Rangers of the Order", to the communist "Red Line" faction and the fascist "Fourth Reich", to the more powerful factions such as "Polis", which contained the greatest military power and the most knowledge of the past, and the "Hanza" regime, which controlled the main ring of metro stations by its sheer economic power. As these groups began to evolve, the Red Line and the Fourth Reich quickly entered a state of war, as both sought to destroy the other. As the war raged, the stations who refused to join either side were either demolished by the factions, merged into the Hanza regime, raided by criminal bandits, or formed their own independent states. Other stations were outright destroyed by animals, mutated by the nuclear fallout. While most of the stations were controlled by the 3 main factions, some stations formed an independent alliances, including the station VDNKh ("Exhibition"). Within that station, the events of Metro 2033 unfold.

Based on the 3 fantastic novels by Dmitry Glukhovsky and PC games of course.

I have decided to make another Metro 2033 based vignette. Some weeks ago, I found figures from Black Dog and today, they finally arrived
The basic kit for my vignette will be 1/35 "Stalkers set" F35172 from Black Dog:
Image
Image

As for the base, I have not made my mind up - maybe some tunnel section or a room. Nothing really big, just a small vignette representing the idea "life in metro".
I will post the build progress as well as share some ideas with the base.
:cheers2:

For those maybe interested, here is my first attempt to build something similar:

Weekend progress:

The build is done, fairly good, only minor problems fitting the minigun.
I replaced the flamethrower hose with tin wire and added lead stipe for the flamethrower strap.
Both figures are in primer now, ready for some paint.

Thank you, mate. I'm still not sure about the base. Have three ideas:
- keep them solitaire with only basic groundwork
- small vignette /some stuff on the ground/
- make a tunnel section from metro

The last is the most daring, however I have problems with 1/35 railways

Thank you very much, I love them too. They have quite unique equipment. This weekend I'm off but next I'll start painting them

Another small progress - this time the base
Image

Finally, I've made up my mind and decided to go into a tunnel section. The tunnel section will be illuminated with 2 LEDs, one flashing.
I plan to have there a small wall section and rails.
So I've bought a soldering tool and some basic stuff - a piece of sewers pipe, some wires, a piece of 1/35 rails, LED ligts and stuff for plugging it.

Here are the parts- the tunnel section with some interior details, the wall and resized rails.
Image

After some basic soldering, the LEDs are in place and connected.
Image

The base with fitted rails.

Had a day off, so some progress here:

The tunnel section and wall section are in primer, after that some basic painting.
I could finally complete the base and fix it together. In the picture you can see it drying on the heater.
Image

I realized I have no suitable grit stone that will go inbetween the rail sleepers. So I bought some salt with really big grains and pinted it myself. Here you can see the final product drying on the heater.
Image

After some drying I 'll be able to connect the wires and complete the lights. Then I hope the figures and some details will be my next target.

If you have access to a model railroad store there's also O Scale (about 1:48) and G Scale (about 1:20) scenery supplies that might do the trick. Though what you've done already looks spot on. :thumb2:

The base is almost done.
After completing, I weathered the whole section and wall with oils.
Image

I want to add rust and paint the tunnel section in black from outside. And some matt varnish, as it is a bit shiny now.
Right now I'm working on some stuff like broken bottles and tiles from the wall, bags, wooden planks etc. to add a bit of a "messy" feeling.

The whole vignette is paited in black from outside and the lights are on!

Thank you very much, mate. Spooky, I like the word, it describes the atmosphere quite a lot.
Now I need to add a few things in the vignette - some the stuff I prepared. A bit of rusty metal look to the rails, fit the figures and the whole thing is done.

Small update:

Based on advice from fellow modellers here, I decided to add there some rats.
However, my attempt to make the rats from Milliput did not end very well :
The only thing I was able to make were these teddy bears:
Image

Luckily, Czech company Plusmodel makes 1/35 resin rats:
Image

TODAY, the rats finally arrived and they look very well:
Image

so here are the rats ready to for some paint
Image

After painting them, I hope to finnish the vignette soon
