Well I started!
Firstly though the stuff in the kits.
The truck. As expected for 1/25 they're pretty big and full of stuff but there's a bit more than I originally expected thanks to the engine and stuff.

All the sprues. Multicoloured clear parts in here too as well as the chromed parts. I like.

Vinyl tires with metal axles. A nice touch and should be fine with the weight of the kit and all the addons I plan on.

Decals. They're all pretty nice by the looks. My plan here is to use them as usual then scuff/sand/whatever them back.

The cab tub

Clear parts including the one piece cab windows bit. I probably won't use this. It's nice, but it's quite thick and I doubt the glass would last long in an apocalyptic desert. Plus it'd get in the way of cab modifications.

More bits.

Instructions are just a bit of paper folded over. It works though.

Cab exterior and hood. There's gonna be more than a few holes in those by the end.

Oh oh it also has a little paper craft version of the box. Odd, but interesting.
And the box for the tank trailer.

Sprues. Less plastic but bigger bits of it.

Decals too. Ideally I'd have some Australian company decals and if anyone knows of any I'd appreciate it. But I can make do with 'Murican ones. Guess post apoc Americans (especially Texans) would have the same sort of ideas as the Aussies right?

And the tires. Again vinyl, again nicely detailed, and like the rest they're gonna lose a lot of that detail. Everything's gotta be somewhere between "well worn" and "hacked together".

Instructions. Again, a bit of paper.

And by far the coolest part of these, the tank itself is all chrome plated, and very nicely so too

Now the awkward thing about that is I wanna keep the chrome plating in some areas, but make it look like a lot of the chrome has chipped off to reveal the underlying rusting steel. But I'm not 100% sure yet how I'm going to manage that. I could always paint more chrome over top but getting that kind of mirror finish from paint? Probably not going to happen, so basically I'll have to get creative with masking techniques
Made a start and got the engine done. There's a good bit of flash around the place and the fit requires a little fiddling and the instructions aren't fantastically clear but once you get over those hurdles the kit is quite nice. Some really good surface texture and pretty good detail for nothing but plastic. I might do some extra detailing if I get some reference pictures, we'll see.
The transmission and block. Took a bit of fiddling and sanding.

Then the oil pan underneath and some manifolds and a blower and stuff.

And mostly together, apart from a couple of pieces I simply could not find, yet.
Whew, long post.
