Anyone used them? Any good? How do you apply them to say a tank exhaust?
At present for 'crusty' rust I just add a small bit of pigment to the paint or wash once it's on the model. This looks good but is obviously over scale.
Cheers

Ha ha, I answered your referenced post instead of this one, but here's what I wrote:
That's similar to what I do now, variations of paint colours and washes flecked with various pigments, but as I said it looks good but is over scale (them flecks of pigment would be the size of golf balls), that's why I asked about the AK stuff. From what I've read it doesn't contain particles it's just the way that certain matt surface dries.

Re: AK Crusted Rust
Well.... it is not as crusty as the other guys have shown... you can add more pigments of the same colour to accentuate the effect as needed... but it is not just a filter or light wash as previously issued by the company ! it has more pigments and a Dulling agent to make it appear really flat and not oily !
take care.... if you don't keep it mixed... it will get lesser and lesser... crusty... if that makes sense ? as the pigments starts to settle at the bottom.

Cheers for the info, I think I'll stick to adding a touch of pigment to paint or an oil wash. I don't think it warrants me buying even more rust 'stuff' if it's not going to make that much difference.schweinhund227 wrote: ↑Fri May 26, 2017 2:02 amWell.... it is not as crusty as the other guys have shown... you can add more pigments of the same colour to accentuate the effect as needed... but it is not just a filter or light wash as previously issued by the company ! it has more pigments and a Dulling agent to make it appear really flat and not oily !

Of course.... The old way is perfect as well...
Maybe the product is meant for people that never
Mixed said products before.... And is more of an introduction to weathering.... Once they know more and get more comfortable with weathering; They might experiment more? Who knows? Take care.
