Jordan 191 Build
First one of these Open Wheel racers to have a go with for many years.
Tamiya Jordan 191 with photo etch upgrade set along with aftermarket decals.
Kit decals have basically had it due to age of the kit.
I’ll be using Zero paints of the correct colours .
Start of the body panel clean up and test fit ready for paint.

Re: Jordan 191 Build
Due to the original kit decals being unusable and the painting of the second colour being required instead I decided to proceed for starters with just the main body panels to see how well it went.
Painted with Zero paints grey primer and Jordan green.
I then traced off the decal sheet and made some templates in Tamiya masking tape. These I used to get the masking off positions hopefully somewhere near.
The aftermarket decal sheet has 0.5mm pinstriping which needs to go over the line between the green and blue.If the masking was off then it would not work out.

Seems to be somewhere near so far.
A couple more decals on the tub and I'll clearcoat both to see what it looks like.

Re: Jordan 191 Build
Love it, and the fact that you have the talent to still build it without the decals. I would have to chuck it out. That's a great looking car. Sub'd

Re: Jordan 191 Build
Now also started the prepping and painting of suspension and engine parts.
Cam shaft covers were done by first painting with Chrome acrylic and then over the top with black enamel and then removing the top coat with enamel thinners.

Your work looks great so far...
The shape of this F1 car was always one of the most beautiful (IMHO), regardless of its success.
Wonderful detail work on this classic.

More painting finished tonight and another look at the photo edge grade up parts.
Just a few selected parts will be used I think and the rest will be standard kit.

Re: Jordan 191 Build
Nice to actually get on with putting the Jordan together after weeks of preparing parts.
All straight forward so far and on to the nose cone assembly next.
Parts have been painted with a mixture of Zero and Tamiya LP.

Re: Jordan 191 Build
Kit is now more or less complete except for the GoodYear tyre decals and final assembly.
It turns out that the kit supplied decals are as shot as the main decal set and there is no way I can use them.
I'm just trying to source a set at the moment so hopefully I can get hold of some soon to fully complete the build.
Panel fixings added

Re: Jordan 191 Build
Thanks for the link.
No 1/20 scale though, would have to see if I could get away with 1/18 or 1/25
Also shipping time from the USA to the UK may mean that the model is not done by the closing date.

That turned out super sweet. For an out of the box build, that is top notch!
Where did you end up getting the tire decals?

Re: Jordan 191 Build
Managed to get a set made by Tabu Designs.
These were actually easier to apply than the Tamiya ones.
Being regular decals it was much easier to get them in the right position on the tyre.
I had Richy on the forum also send me out a couple of spare sets of Tamiya ones that he had but ended up going down the first route.
Tyre stencils were considered but decided against in the end.
