McLaren mp 4/2

Post by Tay99 »

Hi I am nearly coming to the end of the lotus 49b build, and looking through the stash deciding what to build next I’ve decided on this kit from Aoshima/beemax of the McLaren mp4/2.
Here are the pic of the kit, ref books and quite a bit of aftermarket goodies, the paint is from zero paints.
Hopefully I’ll make a start this coming week.

Hi
Finished the dash board, I filled in the edges with filler to hide the layers of PE.
Painted with Tamiya semi gloss black and then cleaned the paint from the warning lights and then painted them with Tamiya clear green, red and orange. Added the decals and then applied white glue for the glass over the decals.

Hi got a bit more done today, primed the body panels with Ultimate gray.
I’ve built and painted the engine and gearbox with various Alclad paints the Same with the exhaust and turbos.
Added the silver foil heat shield to the engine bay.
Need to add a few wires and pipes.

Thanks Kev.

Bit more done this weekend I’ve added some more of the PE parts and finished the carbon fibre to the monocoque, the brake discs and the front and rear suspension is also finished.
I’ve toned done the carbon fibre on the front of the monocoque as it was too brown compared to the ref photos I have the same with the seat, I used Alcad smoke, I also used it on the PE part on the front of the monocoque.
Also added the mesh to the intakes on the radiators.

Thanks for the comments.
Bit more done tonight, painted and glued in the brake bottles into the nose, fixed the PE gurney flaps to the rear wings.
Made up the PE parts for the fuel tank.
Made a stand for the bodywork to sit on from some evergreen plastic rod.
