This is my first post on ISM, so if you don't mind, I would like to give a brief intro...
About 18 months ago, I stumbled into Paul's first 'Step-by-step' YouTube video on the Messerschmitt. Intrigued, I watched all 13 episodes in a row, despite it being very late on a work night. The next morning, I ordered an airbrush set and a few kits, having been inspired by the ease at which things in the hobby are now, versus my last time to build in the late '70s. I have to say thank you to Paul for the videos, which then led me to Lee's monthly shows and for the renaissance of my enjoyment in this hobby.
I've lurked on the boards and watched nearly every video since Jan, 2015. While there is still time to enter this SIG, I do not have the time to enter it properly. Therefore, I am showing to you all one of my first (nearly complete) builds. Be gentle with the critiques, I know more now than when I was working on this kit in the late spring and would have done things a bit different.

I have nearly finished a Type 93 Imperial Japanese Trainer "Akatombo".
The Imperial Japanese Navy trained pilots in the Yokosuka K5Y - the Akatombo (赤とんぼ) 'Red Dragonfly'. Nicknamed by the Allies as 'Willow', the Type 93 was an intermediate / advanced trainer for pilots from around 1937 - 1945.
This model is marked and painted like the early versions based at Kasumigaura and possibly as what SAKAI would have trained in during his time at Tsuchiura.
There are many things I would do different to this model if (when) I build it again. But this is not bad, IMHO, for my first, nearly complete, kit.
I am almost finished with the rigging, and still need to do a 'wash' to really make the detail pop, then a clear-coat sealant.

I am a member of Warbirds flight sim community and have been with them for close to 14 years. We fly regularly and in discussions, I have learned that many players also build. I have mentioned ISM to the community and hope they find the same enjoyment from you all as I have.
