Hi. So imgur no longer works in the UK.
Can someone advise what's the best way to post photos.
Thanks.

I use Flickr and it costs me £7 a month. Decent interface and intuitive to use. I'm sure there are other offerings out there but I have only used Flickr and before that, Photobucket - which priced itself out of the market and nearly destroyed the forum
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Don't worry about it. Us UK users will just have to suck it up, our all knowing overlords don't deem us worthy to view such materials online (please think of the children etc) so why should every one else have to compromise.
My guess would be that all the other image hosting sites will follow imgur and limit our access anyway. Or imgur, for some reason, will decide to jump through the hoops and access will be granted once more. So a knee jerk reaction isn't warranted, give it a few weeks and see what happens.

Re: Imgur not working. Help with photo posting.
I'm using postimage.cc - theres a free service thas had ads, max file size of 32 Mb and limits resolution to 1280 px.
I opted for the Premium service that gets rid of the ads, gives unlimited hosting, max 64 Mb file size and original resolution for linked photos. Cost is $3 49/month.
So far its escaped the attention of Stasi Starmers censors. So far.....
***EDIT** There is a work around. If you have a VPN turn it on and set the visible hosting to the US. If you don't have one install one of the free ones - IPVanish is quite good. This renders the images visible again after you hit "Reload" in the browser and will remain so if you have to turn the VPN off again as long as you don't purge the browsers cache.

Much the same deal as postimage that Neil uses. Free or you can pay for a better deal , but not necessary.

With the Imgur thing blocking all UK access just shows how many forums can easily have threads trashed as a result.
Also if a user stops using a fee paying hosting site all their pictures will become unavailable on all forums worldwide.
I won't go into the Photobucket debacle, or another hosting site that places a huge watermark that ruins pictures being viewed.
In fact any forum relying on pictures being placed via hosting sites are vulnerable to pictures disappearing due to things happening outside the forum.

Re: Imgur not working. Help with photo posting.
I looked into photo-hosting alternatives, but the problem is storage. Most cloud-based services still charge quite a bit for storing files, primarily if they are frequently accessed. I think that is the main reason that free options are somewhat sparse. We *could* self-host images, but that would get expensive, and we don’t have enough traffic to generate ad revenue to pay for extra hosting costs. We could lower the hosting costs by limiting file/image sizes, but that would detract from the usefulness of the pictures. We are in a bit of a catch-22.
Personally, I consider photo hosting an expense of the hobby. What I pay to Flickr is somewhat small compared to what I spend on kits and supplies. But that is just me. I wish there were better free options, but any free option carries a much greater risk of disappearing.
The moderators and I are firmly committed to the site and will continue exploring our options.

I used Dropbox a few times in the past as a free hosting service. Not sure if it is still free to use or not now.
There is a hobby hosting site that charges a monthly fee I believe that is reputed to be very good.
