Too big for me.

Re: New Airfix 1/24 kit
I heard there was going to be an announcement last night.
Kit looks good but I wish they had gone for something a bit more out there. Trumpy already do a 1/24 109G so this is not new ground.
I wish Airfix would do another run of their Hellcat. I really fancy it but cant get hold if it. Ooh err Missus

Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Re: New Airfix 1/24 kit
Problem there is these days the big firms are run by marketing and bean counters who are, by nature, risk averse. Things customers would REALLY like - say a 1/24 E.E. Lightning or Hawker Hunter won't be touched. For the likes of interesting things we are down to the small limited run companies like JetMads. Sad but there it is.Stokesy44 wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 1:43 pm I heard there was going to be an announcement last night.

Re: New Airfix 1/24 kit
Was half expecting a Zero to compliment the Hellcat !
Re: New Airfix 1/24 kit
Surely something like a Me 262 would have been just as popular? May be more so.RangerNeil wrote: ↑Fri Nov 07, 2025 2:40 pmProblem there is these days the big firms are run by marketing and bean counters who are, by nature, risk averse. To the likes of us - yes. Guaranteed sales. But the marketing types aren't, as a rule, like us - bean conters even less so. They will know about Spitfires, Hurricane & Me-109's, to lesser extent Fw-190's. The likes of the Me-262 would be far less known and thus - in their eyes - too great a risk.Stokesy44 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 08, 2025 6:43 amSurely something like a Me 262 would have been just as popular? To use a "real life" example - back in the late 70's a design team at Ford came up with a 3 door coupe concept based on the Fiesta platform. Those of us in the engineering side and the performance car one loved it. Marketing vetoed it, bean counters refused to fund design and the project would have ended there. But Bill Ford visited the Dunton R&D centre here in the UK and one of the team members managed to get his ear and show him the design. Bill Ford immediately approved the project. Result was the Ford Puma - went from the drawing board to job #1 in 18 months ( record at the time, usual it took 4 years) and it sold like hotcakes. Heads of Marketing & Finance found themselves 8n the job market.
Unfortunately Airfix doesn't have a Bill Ford equivalent.
