Any Cricut users on the forum?

Post by MrBowcat »

Hi guys,

I'm about to inherit a Cricut plotter/cutter, with the aim to use it for making airbrush stencils. Can anyone recommend a low tack, flexible film to use? I've been looking at Oramask 810 and Frisket film, but looking for user opinions.

Cheers,

B

Don't know anything, but I'll be glad to soak up any info that shows up here. I was thinking of buying one a couple of years ago, but eventually decided to do nothing.

My wife has one that I've used in the past. Generally it was a proof on concept and I just stuck Tamiya masking tape to the pad it cut the things out on. Worked alright. Though, I'm interested if you find a good film to use for bigger and more detailed things.

Thanks for the replies.

I've actually ordered some Oracal/Oramask 810 to try. From what I’ve read the 813 is more for flatter surfaces, the 810 more for curved surfaces.

The reason I got the Cricut is for a Kryptek pattern camo job on a rifle stock, so the 810 seemed to fit the bill for this. I'll find out on Wednesday when Amazon delivers it.

For model making masks I will no doubt use sheets of Washi/Tamiya paper. I use washi tape with my Dspiae circle cutter and it works well. Saying that, I've got 5 meters of the 810 coming so may use that for models as well, will have to experiment and see.
