Trumpeter 1/35 Light Armour Vehile-Recovery (LAV-R) OOB

Post by Northboy321 »

Hi chaps there is my recently finished 1/35 LAV-R from Trumpeter built out of the box I picked this up from e-bay for £10 and thought it would be worth a try for something different.

The usual information

•Kit manufacture: Trumpeter
•Scale: 1/35
•Type: USMC LAV-R
•Extras used: OOB
•Paints and colours used: Tamiya arcylic NATO, Black, Brown, Green plus various weathering shades. Flory sand Wash

On to the photos

So there it is, final thought; good kit good level of detail, but would have been better with usable decals and would have been great with interior detail. I am quite happy with the overall result but I think i could have done more with the weathering and final finish as i have lost a little depth of finish with the dusty look.

As always any comments and crituque welcome. Till next time happy modeling chaps.

That looks great Ian, we always have to trade reality for aesthetics when it comes to weathering. We usually go nuts with some types of weathering and way to easy on others, just so our sweet paintwork can be seen.
To me it looks as though you got a happy balance of the two.
That's some great work there buddy. The optics are a really nice touch. Tricky to do too.
Well done buddy.

Thanks for the critique, I really enjoyed building the kit, it has great detail which was made much better with the PE parts, the one let down is the kit decals. The best thing about the build is that my modelling horizons have been opened up to wheeled armoured vehicles. Well worth the effort to build.
