many thanks all for your kind words :

Whilst awaiting the sword of Damocles to fall (and fall it did) I had this to focus on, I made life harder by adding a resin cockpit that looked good but caused major fit issues and then I discovered there was no open cockpit option (really Airfix in the 21st C???) so Ireally did make hard work - the nose + cockpit are a separate bit and really glue where they touch and along with 15g in the nose this makes it hard to get a fit and this also made the engine nacelles a poor fit with some 2mm gaps in places which ended up being filled with sprueglue and sanded the hell out of and it looks ok. Its not my best work but it kept my mind occupied! I give you...

Another cracking build Paul

Had the pleasure of seeing these launched from the old Ark Royal back in the late 70's and again later in the early 90's only then RAF, superb low level aircraft.

That's a cracking build Paul, and one that's on my wish-list - can't believe there's no open cockpit option though, it was bad enough when they stopped putting pilots in :(

Great job though :th:

REVELL Ju188 1/48 - this is an old Dragon kit from the 90’s and shows it. If it’s a subject you fancy I’d suggest saving your money and hope that ICM get around to adding it to their super Ju88 range…

Did you use a paint marker to do the camouflage on the JU188?

Cheers for the remarks Ben, yes it was a pen - if you go to the reference section under paints thinners and varnish I did a review under “Montana empty acrylic pen” it’s a brilliant reusable little tool

Rye Field Tiger 1 Initial 1:35

This is meant to represent one of 9 Tigers sent as an emergency to the Leningrad front in late 1943, they were sent straight from Putlos with a variety of kit missing and different (or no) storage boxes. This is 121 just before capture when pictures show her missing a wheel and being mid repair (the other captured at the same time was bogged down and the crew were lost, both should have been destroyed but ended up on display in Gorky) The kit goes together well but I made one mistake where I failed to read the instructions carefully enough, can you see it...? :ooops: there's loads of spare bits in the box should you require, a whole new deck and 3 more mantles to start! decals are basic and went on ok, there's a little silvering but I didn't varnish at all. The only downer to the kit is the tracks, they're supposed to be workable and clip together but I could in no way get them to work so swapped in a set of Fruils - Found that leaving them soaking in washing up liquid overnight meant I had very few issues with the Ultimate Blacken It when it was added, I can add a photo if anyone wants.

Hi Stokesy thanks for your comments. Interestingly on this Tiger nothing has been lost in combat it simply wasn't there on the first 9 sent to sPA 502, the track cable was added to Fgr 250011 as well as the other tools and the tow cable in Sept 42, the shovel on the glacis was 250031 and the track guards to 250028/31. These are the major differences between the Initial series 250001 to 250010 and the Early when the fiefels were added etc.'DW to Tiger 1 Benz and Doyle' is an excellent reference for these tiger iterations.

as for the base its a recycle of the Panzer iv one above and the Tiger II with the kitchen, sand off snow on - I think this is the 4th or 5th time :D Im. just innately lazy :shhh:

Cheers

Great job !!
and love the story coming with it ! The "poor" Germans in Russia really had it the hard way.

Just started reading the book Stalingrad by Anthony Beevor. I think most people on the forum would be interested and would like it.

Miniart T-55A late 1965 1/35
Great kit but needs a bit of care, there’s no interior but the firewall is included to give some stability. I would suggest to anyone building these kits to build the basic bucket first before adding the suspension etc, even with dry fitting I can’t get the turret to lock in place. You need your own cables and I would also recommend to anyone who isn’t a neurosurgeon that getting a replacement headlight will protect your sanity!
I used this one.

Lovely build and the base has a great mix of green amongst the dry plants particularly like the hint of tracks from another tank in the track.
Lighting hint taken on board and noted.
The build has a what I feel is a great dust coat applied so evenly it looks very real.
