Looks great. It's always good to see an unusual paint scheme!

Ps. I keep meaning to try eggnog, I just can't be bothered learning to make it! It's not part of a traditional Xmas in the UK unfortunately.

Got word from my big boss that it is time to pack it up....like literally pack everything up
She was a bit miffed I used yesterday to play with the dog and model instead of packing. So time to packup the model desk and get ready to move
Hope to make it back to this build before the end of December

Coming to the harsh reality that this Tamiya is not going to finish on time
Too much on my plate to do still and now a New Years Eve party to attend vs my will

Muffed my first pass of gloss and got it splotchy so will be more careful on pass two
Image

At least I figure can do my modifying as the oob rules be damned....so seat belts and hydraulic lines on the list.
I will continue this build as my first in the new house while I shift, build and organize the room
Cheers gents and Happy New Year to all :cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2: :cheers2:

So plugging along to complete
I have added wingtip light details, hydraulic lines and made an aluminum pitot tube. Will make seat belts as well
Got the top side gloss coated...all shiny shiny
Image

Let that harden up and do the nose and underside this week hopefully
:cheers2: for lookin

Heh, glad to see this. Rules are fun and all, but you seem happiest when you can tinker.

Paint looks great!

Got the base and nose sprayed clear after work. Let that all harden up tonight then ready for decals and weathering
Should have got this done on New Year's Eve, but wife wanted to go out, so out we go

I really need to get that desktop spray booth as this room is too tightly sealed up to spray acrylics like I did in the rental.
Not a drafty old self-ventilating house...feeling a bit light headed actually until I cracked the window open
Stupid of me

Holy cow these fragile Cartograph decals on thick Tamiya paper are a real B to mess with :wall:

I am a firm believer in Karma and it has proven itself helpful again
These decals are a nightmare...very thick paper in combination with thin floppy and hyper foldable decal. I have never ruined so many decals, EVER!
Luckily early on in this Phantom build, an awesome ISM member, Goose, in Belgium offered some armament sprues and decals from his 1/72 Italeri version of this kit. My saviour :
So thanks to Goose I have spare decals and am not beating this thing with a hammer... yet anyways
Just a big shout out of thanks to him for that unsolicited act of kindness
:cheers2: my Goose friend :thumb2:

"It is looking DOG"....much more appropriate for this beastly kit

If I can pull it out half decent in the end, I will be most surprised

Finished off the decals so dragged out some supplies and worked at my new tall height bench on the rear wheel wells.
I added some wires to simulate hydraulic and electrical lines...painted red green and yellow and a bit of foil to simulate tie downs
Image

Push list to finish is stabilizers on, wheels weathered and attatched, canopies painted and attatched, armament added and overall weathering
Wishing it were Friday already....and it is Tuesday night

You are far too kind
I am giving my build a resounding MEH
In drilling holes for those coloured lines I managed to go through top side and poke nice neat holes on the dorsal wing surface
Genius  :wtf:

My photography kinda sucks though, have to get my booth set up and light worked out still
That photo drives me crazy...poorly lit, bad background with multiple interfering surfaces, a paint drop and those parts used for the belts just make it look sloppy :wall: :bash:

Don´t be too hard on your self. We would all struggle trying to produce proper photos. My issue is not getting enough light. My man cave man draws light from a small window in the ceiling. Looks more like a hatch with a glass screen, actually. The long dark Winters aint doing me any favours either. I don´t use flash. I have a bendy lamp to help me keep everyhting in focus. I can see the depth of your work, with nice and clear visuals of all the details. Looking fab to me. :thumb2: :cheers2:

Calling her done.
I broke all the rules for this sig....scratchbuilt, kit bashed and finished late
Thankfully a very good friend in Belgium sent me extra decals and saved my butt as I destroyed many of the kit decals
Thank you thank you thank you : : :
She was depicted as a bit of a dirty bird with lots of use, wear and tear and even some skin patches. Have not weathered a plane before so that was kind of fun.

Source of rivet details for canopy and front wheel nuts
