Great work with the canopy masks. And that last pic, the weathering is superb.

Thanks on the weathering

your M10 build has had a big influence on the attemps at the weathering.
If time is money then the pre-cut masks make sense but i quite enjoy just working away at them with a pair of decal scissors.

Hi paul, like you i'm a car and bike guy but as i fly R/C scale aircraft my daughters bought me aircraft kits thinking it was the same sort of thing and i have to say i've quite enjoyed them. Still plastic modeling but different technique's to to the car's !
(I'm bursting to build my big Enzo though

)

Quite tricky trying to mask and keep the various parts in place while bein primed/painted. Having the tail wheel in place to hold on to was a blessing !
I'm back to the tamiya primer till i find out where i'm going wrong with the Ultimate stuff. The tamiya primer does give a beautifull finish, it's just the smell and de-canting the stuff thats a pain.
This was a horrible airframe to pre-shade, probably just the lack of surface detail because of full-size's make up.

Momentum seems to be the name of the game for me. I had to be away from home for a few days with work but i've been unable to get back into this kit since. I just cant seem to get a mental picture in my head of what to do next.
I found myself looking at something and thinking - mmmm, not sure about that or that and that either and just put it down again. Just to get something done, i glued the undercarrage and door's in permenatly.

Yeah, defo scott. It would be a crime not too. I'm thinking of a mirror base as most of that lovely detail is in the wheel wells and bomb bay.

You've got some beautiful detail in that build. I'm envious of the quality, cant wait until its finished.

Thanks boys, i appreciate the very kind comments
Bret, the detail in this kit is amazing and i will be buying another with the intention of finishing it with the natural wood effect. My idea was to 'clad' it with 1/64 balsa sheet but having seen the other mosquito build with the wood effect done with paint that looks absolutly stunning i'm not so sure now, the balsa grain i think would be too 'big'

Thanks guy's

i'm at the gloss before decals stage just now so there is some down time with drying in-between just to be sure so ive made a start on a bike kit which i'll post a bit later.
Although the cars and bikes will always be top of my list, i have really enjoyed the large amount of detail that these aircraft have. I will buy another mosquito at some point next year, it really is that good

you know, i made the fatal mistake of starting another kit because of the down time with the drying times but i've been unable to put it down in the last two weeks so the mossie has suffered a bit but the bike should be finished tonight or t'moro at the latest

the main decals are on and didnt fall apart which was good so it's just the stencils and the final gloss and wash to be done. Hopefully this time next week will be the final reveal !
And thank you for your interest kind sir

Nice, can't wait to see it. Also, I'm back in the land of aircraft. Finished my Panzer IV and M10 tank destroyers and have just opened the box on my Trumpy 1/32 109F(Trop).

There seems to be nearly as many decals on the bottom of this thing as the phantom ! A lot more than i thought.

Thanks
She is a big bird. Every time i try to turn her over or something i knock stuff off the little table i build on. I just hope she goes back in the box till i get somewhere more permanent to display them all !
I'm sitting here just now trying to paint the three figures that come with it although it's only the standing navigater that can be used to display it. Painting figures has to be bordering on art rather than modeling ?

There have been several parts lying around for long enough as i was worried about them causing me grief later on with possibly damaging them. It was just the bomb bay doors, guns and the bombs themselfs, oh, and the engine exhausts of coarse.

Ah, thank you David. Every time i think i'm done i find another part that i forgot about, brake lines this time ! Any suggestions for the final pictures ? I'm not sure just a white background would be ok. I need to remember to take some with the engine cowlings off as well.

Looking good.
I don't use any kind of photobooth when I take pictures. I have very good light where I work and I figure if its in focus and the angles and POVs are good, it doesn't really matter what's behind it. I try to get a lot of pics from what would have been eye level for the kit in question, I feel it adds scale and grounds the pics more in reality.
As long as the bench is semi-tidy I just click away then edit the rubbish out once the pics are loaded up.
