Hi All!! ... I'm a newbie to this site
I love the community that is building around this product. And the work being done by these guys is truly awesome. Especially the sections on techniques in the youtube clips.
I am intending to do led lighting mods to my kit (cockpit ... corridors ... crew area / hold ... turret(s) and externals (landing lights for one). I have seen some fantastic work out there from some seriously talented, gifted and imaginative individuals, that has elevated my expectations to ANH ... A New Height!
In the meantime ... I have a question about the cockpit doorway. Ignoring the need to 'host' the leds a certain distance from the rear bulkhead ... has anyone noticed or commented on the fact that the actual door is roughly flush with the rear edge of the doorway cushions in the set images that are available and not in such a deep doorway recess? I am intending to mount the 'door' closer but had wondered if anyone has any other ideas or comments.
Finally, I am strongly considering a couple of 3d printed mods to enhance my crew area / hold, specifically the forward bulkhead supports and pipework and the dejarik table so that I can illuminate it as shown in the images on the Shapeways site. Does anyone have any solid info on the 3d printed parts, as I had read recently that the material used has a tendency to become brittle after a few years.
Appreciate any comments or ideas ...
