Pair of tights over the end of the hoover nozzle might find it if you dropped it on the carpet

Thanks boys, the wings are pretty much done. I'll post some pics
Yeah, disaster averted. I was lucky, that could have been a major PITA if i wasnt able to make another. I'm pretty sure it's not in the carpet as it's that old and worn it has no pile left. I'm sure at some point it will show it's self again though !

Don't worry, it will show up when the kit completed
Great solution to scratch a new part out the sprue label!

Just cutting the parts off and cleaning them up took longer than i thought. I always thought it was the painting that took most of the time.

Thanks scott, i could use your help though buddy. I've finally given the cockpit and cockpit sides a good old gloss hammering so i can get some sort of weathering done so i can get the fusalage sides put together for good.
The undercarrage and engine i can get to at anytime for weathering, even right up to the final stages the fit is that good but i could really do with getting the fusalage together to get some of the parts sitting around used up. So, here's what i have to work with, any help to what to use and where to use it would be great

Oh man, I totally missed that post until now....my apologies
The best kind of engine/auto parts weathering IMHO is a little oil wash with black and burnt umber/dark brown something like that in the mix.
I am lazy and use Mig Dark Wash a lot, but you cold easily mix up a custom oil wash with the thinner, black and either of the rusts in those awesome oils you have. It is a bit of a mad scientist experiment, really.
Just start out with a bit, brush it on and watch it flow into crevices, Then wipe off with a cotton bud with a touch of thinner on it.
How dark depends on how long you let it dry, how much you apply and how much you wipe.
Hope that was what you were asking

Yeah, thanks scott. That was the info i was looking for. I have painted and glossed the inside rear of the fusalage thats not seen and split each into two which gives me four separate areas to play around with. I'll try as you suggest with the oils
I know what you mean, it's hard keeping up with all the posts, i think i'm missing a ton of them at times it's just so busy on here !

thanks for understanding,
I wanted to emphasize to others to definitely do a gloss coat before oil weathering as it controls the removal of the wash..otherwise very hard to remove
I use Future or whatever the heck it is called now as it is cheap and easy for me to get in Canada

Ah, thanks DSH

you know only too well the amount of hours these kits soak up.
I mucked about with the oils that i have and this is the result. I'm not sure about the colour but i'm reasonably pleased with the effect.

Thanks boys

getting it on it's feet i feel i've turned a corner.
i have to say, this kit has flown together. This is three weeks to the day i started this build and i'm at the end step in the instructions. Thats all the parts (apart from the pilot/navigater) off the sprue, cleaned up, primed and the base colour on. I would even go as far to say that a beginner could build it (ok, maybe not the PE) as there is no modeling skills needed really.

I didnt even think anybody would notice the chipping on the canopy frame, i doubt very much any of it will be seen when the canopy is on and painted
I am happy with the door although i wish i had left the hinge off so i could of had the door 'closed' for painting. I'm gonna have similar issues to your M10 with trying to mask a hole from the outside ! We always find a way somehow

Almost 6hrs to cut them out and stick them on although they worked out very well. If i had been able to use pre-cut ones i may have been able to mask the rest of the model ready for primer.
