This is really coming together nicely, I might pick up one of these. Looks like an enjoyable build.

Photo etch will make you go blind Gupp
You're right about the bending tool for doing the folds. If you're going to be doing more with PE you should probably invest in one. If you do, I'd recommend one of the metal ones, they seem to make the edges a little cleaner and they"'re sturdier. At least I find that they do.
I think that Paul has done, or will do a review on some.

Yeah luckily I only used part of the PE so not too bad.

The kit is really nice with no major issues with fit at least on mine.

Right so got a bit more done.

DECALS!!!
A couple of coats of Klear to start.
ImageImage

ImageImage
So the decals went down well except the rear number plates I had to trim them right down just to get them to fit and the final ones are the 3rd attempt lol.

So as its so warm atm I couldn't do much on this but I have finished the base.

I airbrushed some browns and greys to get a base shade for the ground sorted.
Then I painted watered down PVA on the areas I wanted grass cover and liberally covered it in static grass and pressed it down with my finger.
ImageImage
Once this had dried I tipped off the excess and added some 'wet' patches with more PVA.
Image
Then I used pigments to give a dusty appearance and fixed them in place with oil thinners.
Image Image
Once this had dried it looked okay but I then repeated the process with more pigments and another colour.
Image Image

And the final base ready for the finished 222.
Image

Really happy with how it turned out only thing I would change is using different pigments as I only have brick dust and standard rust.

I will be getting on with weathering when the temperature lowers abit.

Thanks for all the comments really helps me want to finish this the best I can! :thumb2:

Updated time.

Been slow going for the last few days due to the heat wave we are having here in the UK and combined with living in a wooden lodge
Mean the temperature is making hard to get stuff done with paints drying very quickly.

I have managed to start the weathering. First the wash
I used MIG Dark Wash for this. Slapped it on then waiting for is to dry a bit and removing the excess.
Image Image

Then fixed the wheels in place
After the wash and clean up.
Image

Next I rusted up the exhausts
First painted with Hull red Then mixed some rust pigments with low odour thinners
Image Image
And the finished look once the thinners dry.
Image

So next is dust and mud and final Matt varnish. Finish line is in sight!!!

Cheers dude I was please with the exhaust too first time I tried it this way :thumb2:

Right so I've cracked on tonight and finished weathering and sealed it all with a matt coat.

First I used watered down PVA and painted it onto the area I wanted the most mud
Image
This doesnt look great but the next step sorted it out.
Pigments added dry and dusted all over the panels and areas I thought would get dusty.
Image
I then put it on the base and went to add the figure. And because I forgot to check I could not get him sat correctly in the turret no matter how I repositioned the arms.
So no figure for now until I can afford to get a resin crew member from somwhere.

Quick shot of final project Better pics in final reveal tomorrow when I have daylight to work with.
Image

This was a really enjoyable project and I would recommend this kit to anyone. (Id advise the newer version as it comes with the photo-etch grenade mesh)
Doing this as part of a group build was great and the comments kept me wanting to finish it.

Now this is done its on to the other build my entry for the Sci-Fi SIG!!!
