M4 Sherman 1/35 scale in winter camo

Post by hansolo »

Hi Guys,

Whilst waiting for a kit order to be delivered from which another of my oddlings will be created,
here a repaint of a Sherman that I got from a relative.

I wanted to do something else than the usual green, so I looked around for images of Shermans
in winter camo, and got the inspiration I needed.

And here is the result:

The original state in which I got the kit:

I had to scratch build a drivers hatch and added some stowage and stowage racks.
And I changed the tracks for winter tracks from another Sherman.

Base coat and detail painting:

Dark wash:

Camo coat over hairspray:

Camo chipped:

Oil paint rendering rust:

Pigment for dirt and dust:

And I finally added snow, made from baking soda and white glue:

That's all folks!

The best picture is when you add oil paint and stomp them. Makes the tank come alive.
