Made it! So yeah, lots of decals, and up until I did these I think I had done maybe a dozen in my life. There's about 219 decals done, 73 per plane. Basically if it isn't white, it's a decal. Yikes. Quite the learning experience, though. I enjoyed it, hope you do, too.

Sorry I don't yet have a good camera, and that I finished this at night so there's no natural light.

In the little clip, does that dude's face melt when his plane gets hit???

I left off a pic from the WIP with the crew sort of taking a bow, but I've since added it at the end. But yeah, I should give them a proper send off. ;) Edit to add: lol, yeah his face is, well, melting is a decent way to put it. I just hand painted with my brush some googley eyes for the egg pilot rather than the melting...

The TV show never shied away from the effects of war. In fact, it was a major theme of the show, the sense of loss and senseless destruction. Main characters could die and unlike American shows like GI Joe etc., there were consequences for the violence. Powerful stuff.

The movie took the depictions up a notch, and in Japan such films are aimed not at children but young adults and adults.

You can find them in a few places, but they seem to be made in limited quantities. This is where I ordered mine since they were sold out everywhere else at the time. You can also find them on HLJ, Hobby Search, and eBay, though eBay will usually have a substantial mark-up. They should be about $6-$10 USD each before shipping.

:cheers2:
