Starting this thread whilst I'm at work but I'll post pictures when I get home.

Only unstarted Tamiya kit in my stash. I'm a big fan of motorsports, especially GT racing and super GT.

Background:

TOM'S Co., Ltd (株式会社トムス Kabushiki-gaisha Tomusu) is a factory supported racing team and tuner of Toyota and Lexus vehicles. The name stands for Tachi Oiwa Motor Sport. Their head office is located in Tokyo, Japan. They are currently heavily involved with Super GT and Super Formula and Japanese Formula 3.

The car the kit represents is the number 36 Castol TOMs Supra, it was the 1997 GTC 500 Champion with Michael Krumm and Pedro de la Rosa.

Took pictures to prove it's all still in bags and I haven't started it yet.

The box.

Front page and a sample of the instructions.

Image
The decals, looks like it has a decal for the seat itself.

Image
Sprue containing chassis, drive train and some interior parts.

Image
The body shell.

Image
Tires and grill material.

Image
The second white sprue containing the roll cage and other bits.

Image
Transparent sprue for windows and lights.

Anyone know how I strip the horrible chrome wheels without damaging the plastic?

If you leave the wheels in a bath of caustic soda over night the chrome should come off very easily .

There's also the method Wappynutter used: http://www.intscalemodeller.com/viewtop ... 85#p222485

Mr Muscle over cleaner worked amazingly well, although next time I use it I must remember to wear gloves.

It also appears onedrive has killed the picture links so I'll fix them.

Sorry, doesn't look like I'm going to get time to complete this, on the plus side I have completed a 1:1 scale model of a human baby ;)

Hey, congrats! It's a big job, no shame in hanging up the TET while you do that work ;)

Built two myself (well, I supplied half the parts and the wife kitbashed them together) and they are a huge time commitment. When things settle down for you we'll still be here :cheers2:

Cheers! I'll just let the stash grow larger till I get the time to do more than fold a bit of etch, lose the other etch bit I needed and then give up in frustration.
