1/12 Tamiya Suzuki Hayabusa

Post by LM951 »

Hello! Just joined this site today, found the GB, and was hoping I could contribute! I do not know the rules, so if I'm out of place, feel free to tell me (altho I did try to read as much as I could).

I actually started this kit a week ago, so if that disqualifies me, I'll have to try to join in on the next one!

Either way, just recently started modeling again. I haven't worked on anything in quite some time, and as of right now, I only have the engine assembled and sprayed with primer. Tonight will be the first primary coat of flat aluminum. This is my first time ever using an airbrush (my friend let me borrow his to see how well I liked it) and it's such a great tool!

In hind sight I should have left the coolant lines off, but I think it will still turn out great.

This motorcycle has been my favorite since I was 16, so I'm excited to finally build it! (Have had the kit for probably...10 years?......)

I see that since I already started it, I cannot enter. Should I close this thread?

Welcome LM951 :welcome:

I see no reason that you should need to close the thread.
Even if as you say "You are not illegible" to enter the group build, you can still feel comfortable in sharing your work.
I for one will be watching this build with pleasure :thumb2: James.

Well shucks! I hadn't been taking many photos! Right now I'm just waiting on a few more paint colors before I can finish details like the chain and gears, and the front forks. I already masked and painted the side fairings, tail fairing, and small underside fairing. Still doing some finishing work on the front cowl and the tank before I primer them. My first attempt at masking turned out "ok", but since it was my first I learned a few things...hopefully I can touch up two areas where I hadn't fully pressed the mask down and the blue bled through a tiny bit onto the silver :-( I'm hoping it's placed just right to be covered by the decal! I bought a clear coat, but I am a little nervous to used it...I've seen where some modelers use a polish and I need to do my research and see what is the best to buy! Anyways...here are the few photos I DID take. Any critiques or tips on what I could do better would be awesome! I think my next model may be a Tamiya 993 that I have in my basement. It's still sealed but I want to finish this one before moving on. I also have a Tamiya 1/32 "Birdcage" corsair, Tamiya 1/32 Zero, a partially built Tamiya 1/12 ZX-12R, Tamiya 1/12 Porsche 934, Perfect Grade Wing Zero Custom, and Perfect Grade Eva-01 downstairs.

Looking real good so far LM :th:

If you want tips, just check out the tips and builds on this site, there are some fantastic builders here.
Also join ISM facebook and ask questions, questions & more questions.

Only tips I could give you is to treat every part carefully as if it was the whole kitset & you can't go wrong.
Main thing though is to have fun

Progress! Finally getting to the point where assemblies are going together. I'm very happy with the results so far. Seeing as I haven't built a model in 15+ years, even my wife is impressed!
