FAA Sea King 1/72 Airfix

Well, a big FU to Photobucket for blocking all our photos and screwing up the internet
I won't be paying them a cent, so most of my old postings will have broken links until I fix them. $400 you gotta be joking
I have finished the Sea King, if not the diorama, but I will get her in here under the wire
I have to make a movie with the lighting and that will take a bit for me to figure out
Build thread:
viewtopic.php?f=591&t=21908
Anyhow, Airfix 1/72nd scale Sea King Helicopter done in Search and Rescue Livery of the FAA
SeaWaves PE additions for the open crew door, cockpit dash and exterior doodads (two separate PE sets)
Lots of scratch work on rotors and cabin internals and such.
This older Airfix kit is an adequate start, but does shine more with some PE kits and scratch building. The raised rivet detail is awesome, but a royal pain to keep intact with sanding and finishing seams. I used tiny drops of white glue (PVA) to rebuild lost rivet areas. I was impressed and surprised by the decals...much better than Tamiya
I have really enjoyed the kit and love making helicopters for some reason...sucks as their interior details get hidden very fast

Ok so those weird messages and loss of ALL my photos...
Photobucket is no longer free and wants $40/month to allow me to post photos into websites
Not sure what I am going to do at the moment
I have finished the Sea King but bugger if I can post a photo

She has a night sortie to do, probably some drunk dork on a boat to rescue
I am pretty pleased with this, such a lovely lunk of a beast. I have many folks on ISM to thank for all their help suggestions and support...you know who you are, basically ALL OF YOU!!!
Sorry about the photobucket meltdown screwing things up. I have a small video, but god help me I am just posting photos by the skin of my teeth
Here she is one more time
These are the lights that helped inspire the build. A SMD surface mount device LED. To be precise, a 0402 SMD's that is 1.0x0.5 mm height width demension and runs on about 0.2 mA

Clear bright white light light up
A green SMD

Thanks pal
I got a lot of help, suggestions and support along the way
The key to the yellow was go flat and then gloss it...gave a great finish without looking like a show car.
I didn't want her to be too shiny, but these guys kept these birds very clean and obviously took pride in doing so...thus minimal weathering
I need to clean up the wiring end of things a bit out side of the model, but that is a work in progress

I ordered another one of these kits today...going to make her Royal Canadian Air Force Colours

I was looking to do Airfix's new release, but no point... the RCAF were all the older version of the Sea King, Canada never updated them
