Here I go, stages one and two done, no problems.
Easy and quick.
Image
Next I spray Tamiya XF-22 RLM Grey over the cockpit and all other parts that are needed in this colour.
Image
Sprue parts also.
Image
I constructed the wings whilst waiting for the glue to dry on the cockpit sections.
Image
I build and paint the starter unit and exhaust "onion".
Paint them Tamiya X-1 Gloss Black, the compressor fan and cooling fan I painted Citadel Mithril Silver.
Image
Image
In this next photo you can see sub-assembly 4 done and the cooling fan and "onion" built.
Some framing has also been added.
Image
Sub-assembly 6 done. Guns painted Citadel Leadbelcher (Gun Metal to you and me) with a brown wash over the top.
Citadel Agrax Earthshade. Some details picked out in the cockpit also.
Image
Side frame added, also you can see that at this point I glued the compressor unit to the front of the aircraft.
I feel it will aid construction.
Image
Image
Both halves joined and glued.
Image
Front section on and glued.
Image
Image
A small amount of sanding here and also on the wing joints for a better fit.
Image
Image
Quick build so far.
Thanks for dropping by. :th:

Really glad you could join us for this SiG mate :cheers2:

Very unusual subject but a great shape to the wing - coming together really well and very quickly

Cheers mate, I think I'll get chance to do another one considering how long the SiG is running for...or maybe another six or seven.

Had my son in hospital last week, so today was the first chance to do a little more work on the flying wing.
I attached the gun covers, this hides all the nice work done on them.
While the glue was drying it was time to mask the canopy. The framework is nice but difficult to see, especially on the front section, I could not manage to mask the framework so I just masked the lot.
The canopy went on with just a small amount of sanding so that the curve of the plane and canopy was seated nicely.
The front section was fixed on with Revell Contacta Clear. A small gap at the base was filled with PVA glue.
Image
Image
Time for pre-shading, which looks not so good but that's how the rest of the days painting session went. :violin: :violin: :violin:
Image
The underside of the aircraft was painted Mr Hobby RLM 65 Light Blue.
Image
Plus the undercarriage doors.
Image
Once dry, I gave two hours today as it was a warm and dry day, the first part of the splinter pattern was free handed on.
Mr Hobby RLM 74 Dark Grey.
Image
While the first coat of paint was drying paper masks were made from printer paper.
Image
Second colour added. Mr Hobby RLM-81 Brown Violet.
Image
Masks removed to find gaps! :bash: :bash: :bash:
This was down to bright sunlight shining through the window on to the model and my not so good eye sight. :violin: :violin:
Image
A little touch up needed, that's better.
Image
I might put another colour on.
Thank's for dropping by. :th: :th:

OKAY it is time to own up, in my haste to get the model underway I cut off a part which I later discovered I should not have. (Section one cockpit floor/undercarriage floor)
I cut away the location hole with the key-way that secures the front main leg.
This is the area.
Image
So first I built the main leg.
Image
I then sorted the right size tube to replace the bit that I had cut off.
Image
Voila.
Image
I then cut a small section out and placed the leg in.
Image
Then I built the rest of the main leg workings. Watch out for the cross strut part (35) as it flirted into the carpet when cleaning up. :bash: :bash: :bash:
Image
Then the leg was glued in place.
Image
I will touch up the paintwork once the glue has dried.
That's all for tonight folks.
Thanks for dropping by. :th: :th:

Thank you, he is recovering well but still on soft foods.
I am not happy with the paint work as the two colours are for me not a good choice.
Working on that.

:bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash: :bash:
Recap this is how I painted the wheels.
First the wheel halves were glued together.
Image
Then painted black, sorry no photo.
A coat of Citadel Shadow Grey was painted on.
Image
Once dry, a coat of Citadel Stormvermin Fur was painted over the top.
Image
NOW TRAVEL FORWARD IN TIME TO TODAY. :? :? :? :?
So I assembled the rear undercarraige .
Image
Once dry this was glued on to the model.
The instructions are a little confusing on exactly where to glue the leg actuators, but all becomes clear when installing said parts to the model.
Image
Image
Not happy with the two colour splinter camo, I chose to add another.
So I roughly drew around the wings.
Image
Cut out a splinter shape that I liked.
Image
Stuck rolled up pieces of Tamiya tape to the model.
Image
Then placed the paper mask on top, adding small rolls where needed.
Image
Picked my third colour, Vallejo Model Air RLM-65.(71.008,FS35352)
Image
Then sprayed on.
Image
I did add two other patches on the tail and wing tip.
Image
The rest of the undercarriage doors are glued on and a coat of Tamiya Clear X-22 was sprayed on both sides.
Image
Image
Yes I know the wheels are not straight. :wall: :wall: :wall:
That's all folks and thanks for dropping by.

Time to add a bit of colour to the model so I went with a red colour(Revell Aqua colour Carmine Red-36)
I roughly masked off the area with Tamiya tape and brush painted with red.
Image
After two coats of paint I removed the tape to reveal that some of the paint had bled underneath.
Image
I scraped some of the excess paint off with the back of a knife blade.
Image
The model was then given a coat of Tamiya clear and once dry the decals were applied and then another clear coat added.
Image
Image
That's all for today folks.
Thanks for dropping by. :th: :th:

Nice touch with the pale blue splinter patches - they stand out nicely and offset the other colours.

Thanks but I had to do something with the colour choice to "snaz" it up a bit. :th: :th:

On with the build and a clay wash of sand was applied and left to dry.
I went for sand as it was the only wash available to me at this time.
Image
Image
Then removed with a damp paper towel and cotton buds.
Image
Image
I then gave the model some oil/fuel leak marks using oil paint dots applied with a cocktail stick and then dragged downwards with a flat brush dipped in white spirit.
Image
Image
Image
Once dry, the model was given a coat of Tamiya matte clear XF-86.
Image
On the top side of the aircraft I added a small amount of white matte paint to the clear, applying more of the mix on the grey paint to add contrast to the three colours.
Image
Just a few more parts to paint and add to the model and she is done.
