Worden B's completed models

Hello All.

I promised myself last year that I would try to record my completed efforts this year before they get consigned to the big cardboard box (I don't have anywhere to display them). A bit late starting this topic but now I've bitten the bullet I will endeavour to keep it up to date as a record for myself as much as anything.

My first completion this year is the 1/25 Revell Foose FD100. I did post a photo of this on the 'What have you been working on' thread several weeks ago and it seems to have sparked a buying spree for this rather loveable kit so hopefully we will see several more examples on here in the future. I kept to the box scheme of the full size car but added some engine detail from reference photos.
I only have a cheaper phone to take pictures so please excuse the quality and any dust!

Thank you all very much for your kind words.

My second completion for this year is one I started last year but reboxed awaiting seatbelts and roll cage. A 1/24 Tamiya Skyline GTR, I think my favourite car build so far. Painted in Zero Calsonic blue and clear coated with Zero Diamond 2k.

This brings me up to date for finished models this year but I have a Toyota Corolla WRC on the bench that is nearly done.

Very cool build! I really like that livery! The wheels really stand out for some reason. Nice work!

Thank you very much BigWall, there's just something about the Calsonic livery that suits this car and I think the stance that Tamiya have given it just adds to it's beauty.

Third completion this year and one of my quicker builds, just over 3 weeks but that is several hours a day. A Tamiya 1/24 Toyota Corolla WRC, lovely little kit of usual Tamiya quality. Out of the box build with just the addition of ribbon and p/e seatbelts and bonnet clips. Tamiya LP paints and Zero Diamond 2k clear.

Aoshima Brian James A4 Transporter 1/24 scale. A quick fun build this time, not my best work but with several long term projects on the go it did me good to finish something.

Some class builds in here :thumb2:
Many would say an E-type is most at home on the trailer or tow truck

Thank you very much Luke.
Better add the Mclaren to my completed stuff as I seem to be on a roll at the moment with another couple nearly done.
Revell Mclaren 570s in 1/24 scale, body colour is Zero Paints Mclaren Ventura Orange.

Now that is a compliment, thank you very much BigWall (although Zero Paints played the major part, it's such a beautiful colour).

While the McLaren has a wonderful color and glow, the Jag E-Type is still my choice. Seriously, all of the builds are very well done,..... GOOD JOB!

Thank you very much for your kind words, I'm very fond of the E type too. It's a great kit and well worth spending a little extra time on to make everything fit.

Revell 1/25 Fast and Furious Dodge Charger that I built for my son who sadly is unable to build models himself but does enjoy the films. Disappointingly there is not much Fast and Furious in the box, almost the entire interior is scratch built which took ages but we got there in the end and it's new owner is very happy with it which is all that counts.

As a reward for completing 2 rather complex Revell builds I treated myself to a relatively new Tamiya kit. This one is the 1/24 Nissan 370Z Heritage edition, a lovely easy build but a very detailed underside that needs a bit of care painting. All I added were brake discs from litho plate.

Very nice! The engine on the Charger looks great and nice work on it's interior. The Nissan looks amazing in yellow. Very nice job on it as well. The interior and under carriage are nicely done!

Thank you very much for your kind comments.

In my experience the Tamiya car kits are virtually guaranteed to go together nicely with the latest releases seemingly designed in a way that almost rules out stages where it's all too easy to go wrong (eg. masking and having to glue clear parts). That said I have enjoyed building the more recent Revell kits and admire the way they are engineered but for me tolerances seem a bit tight and the plastic can require a fair amount of work to get everything to fit as it should.

Which gives the greater satisfaction when completed, that's a very good question!

Next up is the Tamiya 1/24 Mazda Roadster or MX-5. Not a kit I ever thought of building but I got it for a very good price and I've not done a convertible before. As usual for Tamiya a lovely little kit that went together with no drama. The body colour is a 50/50 mix of Zero Liquid Red and Tamiya LP 46 Pure Metallic Red, under normal light the metallic flakes are far less obvious than in the photos. Clear coat is Tamiya LP 9, I find it so much more forgiving and workable than 2k.

As you will no doubt notice, a bit of a change from my recent modelling attempts. Although I have built and flown many balsa rc planes over the years, this is my first try at a plastic one in 50 years. This Airfix 1/72 Hurricane Mk 1 was on the shelf at our local Aldi supermarket for just under £5 complete with paint, glue and brush! Not having much in the way of military colour paint I used just the 4 colours supplied but mostly applied with an airbrush. I did try a bit of weathering using some oil paints but I have much to learn on that subject.
A great little kit although for me now a little small but with a bit of luck Father Christmas might bring me something slightly larger to try!

Thank you very much. I know it lacks a bit of wear and tear but as someone who builds mainly cars all that trickery is a bit out of my comfort zone. Will have a go on the next one.

Returning to my comfort zone my next completion is this Tamiya 1/24 Subaru Impreza '98 Monte Carlo. I didn't want this one to linger so tried to build it pretty much out of the box but did replace the bonnet and boot catches, mesh grills and added some Eduard seatbelts and a few bits inside. I used Zero 555 Rally Blue and Subaru Wheel Gold and Tamiya LP9 as a clear coat.

With my efforts to join in with the group build I almost forgot to add this one to the list. It's a Tamiya 1/24 Nissan Skyline GT-R group A car, an original 1990 release. Not Tamiya's finest car kit but certainly worth building. Bought second (at least) hand the kit came with a bent A pillar and gone off Calsonic decals which I replaced with a set of Castrol ones. Out of the box other than my favourite Eduard seatbelts and finished in Tamiya LP9 clear.

I appreciate you sharing! i got a bit of a woody looking at that Calsonic GT-R and Merc CLK-GTOne.

Quick question though, do you like that LP clear? I'm a bit of a Tamiya knob, and the Alclad clear is ok but not great. I don't have the gumption (read: balls) to try the 2K stuff yet and was wondering how it compared?? The Alclad clears are easy to use, but aren't the greatest, you know?
