I know not many people have this kit and it's a little rare but, does any one have the following decal sheet in English in their box? I only had the Japanese version!

If so, any chance you could scan it in for me please?

Many thanks in advance

:D

I have the english instruction sheet but for some reason it only deals with the assembly process and the background history but not even a little with the decals and painting. weird.

I don't have that kit, but I do have two suggestions, Lee.
Maybe you can convert your own scan in a Word of PDF file, copy the text and paste it in Google Translator or Bing Translator.
Or what I used to do before the days of PC's and internet: take the sheet to a Japanese restaurant and ask if somebody there can translate it for you.
It's a longshot, but at least you can try.

Good Luck !

Cheers!

I've built this kit in the past and I only had it in Japanese too. Whilst I was in Hobbycraft last week I was looking through their Tamiya 1:35's and none of them (and I really mean none) had any painting or decaling in English, which is kinda annoying cos I don't know which colours to use!

Hi Will,
I haven't bought any new Tamiya kits for over 2 years now (I have a huge stash and new kits have become unaffordable for me), but doesn't Tamiya use these "arrow"-like paint number indicators near the parts on their instruction sheets anymore?
The older kits I have still have them.
With the help of conversion tables (either printed or on internet) it is quite easy to use similar colours from other brands, as you probably know.

Hi jack,
I believe that some of their kits still do. I saw a 1:35 BMW german motorbike once and it had arrows with names of the paint but not the XF bit. I've found that their afv's don't give the colour for the main hull of the tank but for some smaller parts sometimes they do.

Hm..I guess you have to have the older kits for that, Will.
I just dug out their T34/76 Russian ( it should say "Soviet Russian", but okay.. ) tank, kit nr. 35049, produced in 1987.
Its instruction sheet is entirely in remarkably immaculate English, including a list of recommended paint colours plus a piece of text about the colour of the hull..plus a set of drawings with side, front and back view with colour indication in English.
Decal placement in English too.
The instruction sheet begins with a 2-page, small print, rather long text -illustrated- about the history of the tank...in English, indeed.
I purchased this kit in ehm..somewhere around 2005 I think.(memory failing, as usual)

Conclusion: Tamiya -in its mysterious and infinite wisdom- has changed its policy or should I say its mind and sacked its translator just to torment all modellers who have no knowledge of the Japanese language, laughing their pants off, probably. :nena:
Which is -IMHO- a shame. :(
I will not be surprised if they soon will offer translations for 3000 Yen per page..: :wtf:

A cup of saké, anyone? 乾杯 ! (kanpai!)

[note: for the small fee of 50 € I will tell what that means..]
