HobbyBoss 1/48 F6F-3N Hellcat Nightfighter

Post by jdog102398 »

Hi all I finally finished my first GB entry! Before I show the pictures here is what I thought of the kit:

Kit-9/10
The fit was great except for the cowling, that thing took too much time to put on, the fit on the overall kit was fantastic.
The detail on the kit was excellent, rivets, panel lines, and instrument detail that you don't get with some manufactures.

Construction-9/10
All was pretty much spot on with construction except for the engine cowling. The cowling didn't want to go on to the model for some reason.... I guess it was just shy.

Decals-10/10
After building Revell kits my whole life, these are the best decals I've ever used; they don't tear, they adhered beautifully with the aid of Micro Set and Micro Sol, and they weren't blurry; I could read every decal.

Instructions-7/10
The instructions were ok. They were clear and easy to follow, but on a few of the steps there were typos in the instructions: the parts were switched around.

Value-10/10
For a kit that has this much detail this was a great buy at $25.

Accidents
I forgot to mention this in the build thread but when I was applying the decals to the wings I accidentally broke off the gun barrels. Thankfully though I found them and reapplied them to where it looks like nothing happened.

Without further ado, here she is!

That's it folks! This build was a great experience for me and I hope you all enjoyed this build thread and reveal as much as I did.
Thanks, Jonas

Nice build ,

It is very well built, very well painted , and it is nice to see an Hellcat 'parked' in the carrier , also a view of a situation seen in Pacific war , you make a great job on this kit !

Well done ! :th:
Cheers ,
António

I love the Hellcat; it was always my favorite Navy plane of WW2.
Great job! :th: :th:
