The DUKW......

Post by peppie »

Ladies and gentlemen,

May I present to you: The DUKW.

______________________________________________________________________________
______________________________________________________________________________

So, finally done. WOOHOO  !
Here are the pics. Sorry about the quality, due to the somewhat old camera and the
somewhat old geezer taking the shots.... :ooops:

The story is:
The DUKW's were used to bring supplies and sometimes troops from the ships to the
shore, where the supplies were unloaded and later loaded on to the trucks following
the troops.
This was the end of D-Day. A few coastal towns were captured, so the DUKW's were
ordered to bring the supplies in one off those towns to unload. Seeing this was
easier then unloading on the beach.
This "picture" represents a DUKW waiting in line to be unloaded further up the
street. The driver is taking off the net and tarp in advance, so the unloading
can be done quickly.

This was my first "reel" dio.
Learned alot, had a lot off fun making it, bud I think I will not be doing this
again very soon because iit took me a lot off time. And my problem (well, one off
them anyway) is that I can't do two builds at the same time.
So, I'm glad it's finished. :wall:
On to a new challenge  .

Thanks for watching :hi: ,
Peter.

Superb job! :th:
I really like the ivy on the wall, too!
And the detail on the DUKW is excellent, also!

Thanks guys,

I'm also pleased with how it turned out. But allways room for improvement :th:

Only the pictures..... ugh. Made them in the sun and that dulls down the colours. In real life it has more colour.
Thinking about making some kind of "studio", allready have a pair off small lamps on stands for this.
Anybody have any ideas on this?

Foliage is my favourite bit, looks even nicer in real life, specially with the gloss on it.

I even wanted to put on more, like maybe an empty box or a bucket on the street or something, but I think it's also important knowing when to stop.

Yes, I've got the lamps, and I'm thinking to built some kind off box to put the model in when taking pictures. Was just wondering if anyone else has a setup like that and how it looks like then.
I know you can buy these mini studio's, but they are to small for builds like this.
