I have one for the Homeland gb although i will make the Dutch version wich is basicly the same as the German
Only a different mg and decals

If your doing one in Afghan, you could try to scratch build some of the extra turret armour blocks that they added to protect the thin turret roof from mortar/rocket attacks on the bases.
I have this kit and will be doing it as either a Dutch or Italian one. No decals in the kit for the Italian one though which is a shame.

And the Dutch Panzerhaubitzes where the first to see use in Afghanistan
We where also the first to complain about it , something with the NBC protection and dust

I had thought about the extra armour but will not be doing that. It was mixed as to whether they had the extra armour, the pictures I have did not for the most part so that is what I am doing. I will have an update later today, I actually started this a week ago. I have the lower hull done pretty much. Working on the tracks now, they are nice but a pain to build.

the other variant has another A/S layer on top of needles to
make the surface friendlier ! and less prone to damage....
Those hybrid tiles could be easier to make !!!
Even without it.... It looks mighty nice !!!

Nice !!! Kit and the Real Thing ! And that detail of the aditional armor is really great ! Didn't know this , you know Portugal still have some M109 as mobile artillery so , maybe we can get some 2nd hand stuff like, from the Dutch like the Leopards that we use now

So I have some pictures of the work I have done so far. The kits start with the wheels and I thought they were repetitious;
Then the lower hull is next, pretty simple all in all. The nice thing is the suspension works. The photoetch brackets were a bit of a pain.
Then I built the upper section of the lower hull. Lots of nice PE on it, other then some of those PE brackets again all was good.
After that I have started the tracks. The wheels had nothing on the tracks, the clean up sucks
s. But they are worak able and go together with no clue 
The parts in the cup have been cleaned up. The pile needs some cleaning up still, and then a second pile needs cleaning up as well. Once all the parts of the tracks are cleaned up and built I will move on to the upper hull and the massive gun.

Quick update (well not so quick to do), the tracks are completed. They come out very nice, only downside is the cleanup required. No pictures of them, more to come later as I start the turret.

I am onto the tracks on my kit as well. As you say, they go together well, seem quite sturdy once built (thank god, I had a nightmare with Mengs AuF1 tracks), but the clean up is a bit of a pain.
The German desert scheme for their PzH2000s is awesome. Its very similar to the scheme the Brits painted their vehicles over at BATUS in Canada. I did my AS90 and Challenger 2 in that scheme, looks good. Best of luck to you.
