Re: Hobby Boss. M4 High Speed Tractor
Here is a close up of the Muffler on which I used some pigment Fixer and some Tracks pigments and light Rust pigments from AK interactive. I like the effect!

The other picture is from the Kit Sprocket. Which by now, you should know! Is incompatible
With the AFV Club T-48 M4 tracks.
The AFV Club tracks are compatible with many Trade marks which Makes them really a great
Option and having them not Fit the Hobby Boss is a big Blow! I think!
So! Although I hinted in my last Communiqué that I was going to use the Stock rubber tracks !
I sudently remembered that I had in my stash an AFV Club "Prime Mover" based on the M4 chassis and therefore has a good size Sprocket, Well! At least compatible with the movable tracks I have!
Once I compared the AFV Sprocket against the Hobby Boss one it was "right away" evident they needed to be made Widder by about 3 or 5 mm! Which is a lot!
So First; I have cut the HB sprocket in Half then I added a Tube from Evergreen Stock! Making sure it was wide enough to fit the new track and actually Matched the Width of the AFV Club Sprocket I had on hand!
Then when this will be dried, I will either use Tamiya Putty to fill the remainder gap and smooth
The joints!
I was lucky enough to have had a compatible Sprocket in stock and the Modification wasn't very hard to accomplish!

The Project is back on tracks!
Sort of speak ! LOL

Great to see this moving along some more, that Muffler is ace
and should break up the large area of green nicely to draw the eye.

Re: Hobby Boss. M4 High Speed Tractor
Thanks guys !
The muffler has a nice Gritty look to it.... Thanks to the Pigments natural effect...
I never used a lot of pigments before and the AKi fixer works really nice !
I am quite Happy with my Helios 44-2 56mm Lens !!! with the use of Extension tubes.... it does
some pretty nice close ups !!! for 50$ that was a good investment in my Hobby / Hobby collection !!! LOL
Jim will understand ! Hope you get your nice lens buddy !
Later guys and thanks for the support !
The second sprocket was modified late last night and now I will be ready to start assembling the Tracks...
All is good !
Norm.
Out !

Re: Hobby Boss. M4 High Speed Tractor
For the price ! 19$ I believe ? it might be worth the pain !! but at my age ! I need no more
pain ! I need quick painless builds! LOL
but since its the only game in town.... you might have no choice !
get one and endure my friend ! ( works wonder on building up loads of Patience) LOL
pick your battle.... with some insight now I would only tackle the upper sponsons !
where the Cabin meets the Lower hull and the Dashboard ! the rest I would cover with sheet styrene or
a TARP when it comes to the Ammo Bustle !

Oh you are so Right !!! while some of the tractors are more like Glorified Bulldozers... with a different cab ! like some of the Russians stuff !!! and early WWII Americans ones ""in the pacific ""!wappynutter wrote:I may well buy it to stash it for a few years while I get some modelling mojo under my belt..![]()

others like Polish and Germans ones are pretty cool in deed ! just to name a few !
Prime Movers... are cool but we don't see enough of them built !!!
Get one in deed ! while they are cheap ! and build it when you are at your TOP physical and mental best !!!
I was in a Rut and that kit finished me off !!!

Re: Hobby Boss. M4 High Speed Tractor
I found this site good for listing a lot of the more obscure tractor units and armour.
Take a look over at...... http://www.o5m6.de/index.html ... just click the headings then click on the pictures in the left margin to go to the required page.
Some of the artwork and colour schemes and detailing are excellent.
Regards Andy
