I have this kit in the stash and I am waiting on building up the courage to sand off and re-scribe all those panel lines and rivets. I think the kit really needs it (plus the addition of missing rivet lines, panel lines etc.).

Good luck with this!

Right onwards and upwards , here is a bit of history of the bucc . i will be added more as we go .

Buccaneer
Buccaneer S2B Mildenhall 1988.jpeg
Buccaneer S.2B, RAF Mildenhall, 1988
Role Maritime strike aircraft
Manufacturer Blackburn Aircraft Limited
Hawker Siddeley
First flight 30 April 1958
Introduction 17 July 1962
Retired 31 March 1994
Primary users Royal Navy
Royal Air Force
South African Air Force
Number built 211
The Blackburn Buccaneer originated in the early 1950s as a design for a carrier-borne attack aircraft able to carry a nuclear bomb below radar coverage.[1] It was a British low-level subsonic strike aircraft that served with the Royal Navy (RN) and later the Royal Air Force (RAF), retiring from service in 1994. Designed and initially produced by Blackburn Aircraft at Brough, it was later known as the Hawker Siddeley Buccaneer when Blackburn became a part of the Hawker Siddeley group.

The Royal Navy originally procured the Buccaneer as a naval strike aircraft capable of operating from their aircraft carriers, introducing the type to service in 1962 to counterbalance advances made in the Soviet Navy. The Buccaneer was capable of delivering nuclear weapons as well as conventional weapons for anti-shipping warfare, and was typically active in the North Sea area during its service. Early on the initial production aircraft suffered a series of accidents due to insufficient engine power, thus the Buccaneer S.2, equipped with more powerful Rolls-Royce Spey engines, was soon introduced.

Although they originally rejected it in favour of the supersonic BAC TSR-2, the RAF later procured the Buccaneer as a substitute following the cancellation of both the TSR-2 and its planned replacement, the F-111K. When the RN retired the last of its large aircraft carriers, its Buccaneers were transferred to the RAF. The South African Air Force also procured the type. Buccaneers saw combat action in the Gulf War and the South African Border War. In RN service, the Buccaneer was replaced with the V/STOL British Aerospace Sea Harrier. In RAF service, it was replaced by the Panavia Tornado.

As mentioned before there is a lot of flash on this kit and also the panel lines are very big almost like speed bumps , but i will use this to my advantage as a guide line for the new ones .
While iam waiting for the cockpit pe and the canopy masking to get here from eduard ,i will start doing some of the sub assemblys

Image

as you can see from the next photo the two big sink holes thay had to be filled and the flash trimed of .

Image

the panel lines how i did these( and i am no expert by the way ) was to use the raised line as a guide and run a knife down the line lightly to make groove then sanded down the raised line then went over the groove line with a needle a few time to get the depth i wanted and then give it another lite sanding and thats it .
this is a picture of the finished part.

Image

So were we leave it today is i glued the other subs together ready for cleaning up and the panel lines doing .
:cheers2:

Hi all , back again its been a while since the last post , to be honest i nearly shelved this project.
iam not a kit expert but i just could not get on with this one , there is not a lot of parts to it , but a lot of flash , ill fitting parts , loads of filler ,and the
undercart was not nice at all , but that said i not the sort of person to give up so i kick my backside and got on with it .

SO i added some led to the nose and put some white glue in to bind it all together .

Image

then while i was waiting for it to set i put together the fuel pods and the weapons .

Image

and then moved on to cutting the wing tips of and replaceing the kit parts for the s2 version.

Image

Image

Moving on after the glue in the nose had set i glued the top and bottom parts together and filled them .

Image

Image

Whist waiting for the filler to go off i mad a start on the landing gear.
i thought i would have a go at trying to make it look better then it is so i set to with my drill and knife and file .

the front nose wheel the wheels are moulded in to the frame

Image

this is what it should look like

Image

Image

Image

so i had a go

Image

Image

i did all 3 like that .

then after sanding down the fusealarge i made a start on the cockpit PE and the seats ,

Image

Image

that went better then i thought it would .
i will be fitting the seats in last , so as not to break them.
about ready for a coat of primer .

Image

Image

I have done some panel re scribing on this kit, it was a first for me , but you no what thay say practice makes perfect .

when it came to redoing the line around the nose cone i used a rubber gromet pushed it over and scribed round it and bugger me it worked .

Image

Image

now on with the base coat i used tam xf 89 desert yellow then used some tam dark yellow xf60 for a bit of shading and some tam xf 78 deck tan for
panel fading .

Image

Image

Image

Image

So thats as far as i have got , iam trying to do my best to finish by the 31st it will be close what with it being xmass and people popping round
its nice to them but i wish thay would not stay to long it stops me from getting on .
thanks for looking :cheers2:

Image

Image

Image

Image
