Depending on how long the kegger at Hotel Lysus lasts, I plan to get some serious painting done on my FW 190. I've been fannying around fitting the engine covers and putting together all the bits that will need painting (bomb, fuel tanks, undercarriage etc.) but its time to break out the paint.

At least that's the plan - in between the rugby premiership final, the test match, Eng v Wales rugby and the IPL final.

The benefits of being single - that's what I tell myself anyway!

:cheers2:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Finish today until 7th June. Off to Peterborough on the train tomorrow I think unless SWMBO has other plans for me. Never been so I thought I would check it out. Saturday is the Beer Fest in Lincoln, Sunday will be recovery from Saturday and thoughts of 'Why do I do it?' which last about a day. Monday is bank holiday here in UK and I don't usually go anywhere as the roads are manic. Tuesday I'm of to Leicester to the Richard III exhibition, Wednesday the wife goes to Greece for a week with the daughter for a girlie break, leaving me on my own for 8 whole days... . I shall of course miss them terribly and my heart will skip when they return etc etc. Same day I'm starting another build, I've got to start reducing this stash.

So, Thursday I'm off to Berwick Upon Tweed on the choo choo to have a look see what's there, getting train to York later the same day, going out in York with a couple of mates, staying the night (mate has B+B in York, handy or what), wandering around York sobering up on Friday then train back to Lincoln late afternoon. Weekend at leisure (tempted to go to Shuttleworth to the display on the Sunday) then Monday I'm of to the Smoke to the British Museum, 'cos I can't ever remember going there. Er...that's it.
Regards, Dave.

Give me a shout if you end up going to Shuttlworth. We can meet up for a cheeky beer.

Yes, we all have this feeling when they return. But until then...

Will do. Usually fly into Old Warden but can't get my mitts on an a/c that weekend so will have to drive down. Never done that, what are the queues like?

Season opener was pretty rammed but that was because the Reds were on. Strangely, the crowd seemed to thin out about 20 mins after their show.

Wow! Friday already! :D Sun's shining in a slightly distracting fashion.

This week, all I've done is cutting and sanding two pilots and their seats from my Mosquito. But, I've also chased a very delayed parcel from MIG, which Swedish PostNord ultimately confirms they lost somewhere after the incoming sorting station in Stockholm, and ordered some other stuff. Got myself a saw to cut the nose for the version I'm building. But what about the weekend? I actually don't have much hope. Some priming of those aforemented parts, possibly starting to paint the pilots as well?

We'll see... I really need to get into shape for the military training I want to attend, as well. :pistols:

I sense good weekends for a lot of us...me? Right now I'm stuck in an all-staff (clearly I'm paying attention) trying my best to make through to tonight and my free weekend... I want to finish (yes, FINISH) the P-51, get the GTi to topcoat, and move along my spaceships.

Until then...

Had a bed-and-breakfast guest occupying the hobby-room during the weekend, so given the low bar, I did succeed. I've bought a saw and sawed the nose off the Mosq, and primed all cockpit-internal parts. Did actually glue three parts as well.

No pilot-painting though; still waiting for some paint to arrive, but due to the shop's vacation, I don't assume they'll arrive before the national day (6/6). :-(

Not a bad weekend, got the P-51 coated in metal paint...and then mucked it up and had to do it AGAIN :wall: Not the end of the world, though, and maybe I can get it up to a gloss coat this morning. Three day weekends rock.

Destroyers built, painted, and gloss coated, maybe even completed TODAY! Yipee!

Got a second coat of Zero Paint on the GTi, though I'm still not positive what I'll do about that damn decal.

I bet that was way more awesome than 1,000 more screws.

Also, I didn't see anyone and despite saying it was a BYOB weekend I bought a keg as a surprise. Oh well, guess I'll have to drink it myself. ;) Maybe next time :cheers2:

First world problem at work today...no batteries for my i Mac mouse, so no computer....oh the horrors, I had to actually do work stuff :eeek:

I have finished 5 boxes of 1000 screws now and just have the "great room" floor to do
Worked a bit on the Bugatti, re-did the brake lines by winding two wires for a braided look
May get some model time tonight

Ok three patients away from a weekend...filled with running the kids from hockey and dance and many more floor screws.
I am gonna work on that Bugatti if it kills me this weekend. Getting the body on is my goal so I can hook up all the other lines

Another impending weekend, another full load and zero possibility of bench time. Le sigh.

There's an upside, though. After This, almost two weeks of va-frickin-CATION! Oh sweet freedom I can taste you...

Hope you all fair better in the bench time arena, happy Friday! :cheers2:

In York at the minute laid in bed at my mates B+B after a night on the lash. Can smell breakfast wafting upstairs so think I'm going to have a SS+S and wander down. Couple of model shops in York to inspect then off to the National Rail Museum. Back in Lincoln at approx 1700 and will have a start on the Tam FW190 A8/R2 that is laying on the bench. Keep thinking its Saturday today and am pleasantly surprised it's only Friday.

Went to Leicester on Wednesday to see where they dug Richard III up which was quite interesting.

Ah, I wish I could motivate myself for some building, but the weather is allegedly distracting this weekend. Up to 25 C and sunny. Have also planned for a 10km power-walk tomorrow. Ought to prioritize that. But, a package of Vallejo's is arriving today, meaning I could progress on my Mosq. So we'll see.

I'm helping a friend to move this afternoon, so if I'm not too exhausted, I might attend some after-work pub activities afterwards. I'm going to a party tomorrow, too, but I've got some laundry to do on Sunday, so maybe an hour or so can be spent at the bench. If so, I might paint some of the interior details of the cockpit, and a first layer on the pilots. Maybe.

Sorry to hear that. Seems weird to go from working overtime to zero hours..... Bright side modeling is a great De-stress-er and you might get a couple of good builds in.

Often a silver lining in there if you can stay positive and move on to something better

Thanks Scott, with regard to your house build have you thought about using a collated screw gun a lot quicker than by hand
You might be able to hire one. Good luck with the house build.

Yes I have indeed checked into those at the home store, BUT we have under floor heating pipes installed so I felt it better and safer to avoid puncture to do it by hand...more depth and location control.

Didn't even get to post a wish list of things that I hoped to accomplish this past weekend, as I spent the majority of it since Friday waiting outside the maternity unit whilst my daughter was producing our next two grandsons :) William and Elliot arrived at aprox 15:00 GMT yesterday and everyone is doing fine. Probably won't get too much done next weekend either as I just know that SWMBO is going to want to visit. It does give me the opportunity to commence modelling rugby (union) and football (soccer <shudders>) indoctrination.
I just added another one to the, "What the HELL was I thinking list..."

Spectacular failure model wise for me. Just about to start some spraying on my Fw190 on Saturday and my niece rang. Just moved to a new place and got a new bed. Are you busy Uncle? Any chance you can drive over and 'help me' put it together?

I got home 5 hours later, a physical wreck. I do so little physical work, crawling around on the floor and heaving bed bits about nearly killed me. Knees shot, hammies strained and my arse is now killing me! Still, the bed looks great and I'm Mr Popular with the family.

Sunday was no better, started where I stopped from the previous day on the kit and made a complete dog's breakfast of the fuselage mottling on the 190. In the end I just sprayed the light blue over it all and resolved to start again today.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

Hey hey! Congrats!

As expected, I got nothing done. Well, nothing at the bench, at any rate but loads done around the house and for work. So, mission accomplished?

Not to worry, a couple more days of fluff and I get almost two full weeks to build and play with the kiddos. I'm excited...

At least you built SOMETHING. Just not the kind of kit we might prefer. And Mr. Popular can be good for family events, i.e. they save you the good seat, the good ale, the good cuts of meat.

I am gonna work on that Bugatti if it kills me this weekend. Getting the body on is my goal so I can hook up all the other lines
:cheers2:
I did manage to get some Bugatti work done.
Body and accessories fitted so now to some final assembly and detailing.
Just might sneak a quiet Monday morning of modelling now the kids at school, dog walked and wife at a meeting
Finished another 1000 screws in the kitchen and dining rooms done, only living room to go then I am free

Wow, Friday already! I've certainly not done much modelling this week, but I did the first layer of the Mosq cockpit, the jumpsuites of the crew and primed the stabilizers. I've done the right one with Ultimate primer, and left one with Vallejo primer, for comparison.

But now the temperature is dropping below 20C, and the sun's going to be hidden in clouds at least on Sunday. I'm going to switch storage unit with a neighbor tomorrow, but that'll be a quickie, so I assume I'll have some time at the bench.

So, for this weekend, I want to complete the cockpit painting, and do at least 3 additional colors of the crew. Interestingly enough, the pilot is by design molded without legs. Poor b*stard!

I'll get started on the FW 190 A8/R2 sometime this weekend (again). Looks like it's going to be poor weather wise.

What with visiting the family on Saturday plus Aus v Eng at rugby, Eng v Sri Lanka at cricket and England v Russia in the Euros', and likely a king size hangover on Sunday, I'm not going to get much done this weekend I think.

Might get a start on an Airfix 1:72 P51D that was bought for me as a Christmas present.

The Lanc is firmly on the back burner for now.
I just added another one to the, "What the HELL was I thinking list..."

I'm hoping to avoid my sick kids and sequester myself at the bench...

Well, alright I'll take care of them, but my SO has assured me that I've more than earned some cave time and once she she feels on the mend it's guaranteed, so that'll be nice. Finish the P-51 is all really want out of this weekend. It's a wee kit, I can do that...can't I?

I've done all the Montex Masks on my 190 so my aim is to gloss it and do the remaining decals over the weekend. However......

The cricket is on, the summer tour rugby internationals are on, I may even summon up the courage to watch the footie tonight, oh and there's the Canadian GP too. I fear for my 190, I fear it may file for divorce on the basis of neglect.
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

I think this will be my last weekend to model for a while, so I'm am attempting to clear the bench (I've had a RQ-9 I've been meaning to finish for some time now.) With that being said I'm starting a 1/72 Italeri F/A-18F and a 1/72 Italeri Kfir. I'm telling myself I need them for work, so it counts as study time rather than hobby time.

I've also discovered these Metal Earth models. They're a hoot to put together and I just found out that they do more than just star wars stuff. So I bought a Tiger I from them to see how it goes.
