1/24 Peugeot 206 WRC 2001

Post by Rallychef »

trying to get back into the hobby, I wanted to get a couple of OOB builds under my belt before I tackle some of the stash with aftermarket and resin, so this build will be right up my street,

Image

the kit does have some extras in the box as part of the kit, including driver/co driver, paint masks, and mesh for the grills, so should build nicely as an OOB build.

About the Peugeot 206 WRC 2001

The Peugeot 206 was the remarkable car that clinched the World Rally Championship double title in the year 2000. The Peugeot 206 took the Constructors' Title again in 2001. Only 4 meters long, this compact machine brought both performance and beauty to the rugged WRC scene. The machine used for the 2001 World Rally Championships featured only minor modifications of the previous year's 206, and kept the same horizontally installed 2-liter 4-cylinder turbo engine with longitudinally installed gear box. Although Peugeot lost the 2001 Drivers' Championship to Richard Burns of Subaru, Peugeot made its final statement of excellence when the WRC 2000 Champion driver Marcus Gronholm and Peugeot teammate H. Rovanpera took a first and second place finish in the final event, the Rally of Great Britain.

About the model

Scale: 1/24, overall length: 168mm, overall width: 75.4mm. Model boasts detailed recreation of two-level rear-wing and rally suspension. Form of the roll-cage and rally equipped Peugeot 260 reproduced with utmost authenticity. Horizontally installed engine and longitudinally installed gearbox are recreated in full detail and can be viewed after model assembly. Driver and co-driver figures included. From the stylish curves of the body to the accurately rendered under surface.

While watching Pauls show last night and plodding about in the workshop I came across a box while tidying up. It was bought as a bit of a punt at a car book sale for a couple of quid, many years ago, the decals say it is the Subaru from 2001 Rally France. It did not come with instructions, and I could not find any on Tinterweb, but did find the instructions for the 2001 Rally GB car (the kit is identical apart from different decals and no light pod.
It would seem all parts are there so it may become my second build for this GB, as both cars are from the same years campaign.

This car was driven by the Late great Richard Burns and as I worked for the team at this time I will make every effort to get it built

I will get some clear on, later in the week. Hope to get a little of the interior done tonight, not much tomorrow as we will be watching the tour of Britain Cycle race come through the village.

I have about 9 Subaru kits in total, to be built up in the versions of all the drivers I have worked with over the years (I spent 15 years subcontracting as a hospitality chef with them).

You need a computer to boot up the craft services in F1.

Rally is a BBQ and all the num nums you can eat.

I have in the past worked for Pirelli, SubaruWRT, But now only do a little part time for the Ford Rally Team (I'm now semi retired), but don't travel very often to events helping out at their test track in Greystoke forest near my house.

here is a link to the ford rally team's hospitality unit, it comes on 8 artic's so it's a big BBQ unit :nena:
It is also rewrapped (big decals) and used as the Bently racing team unit as M Sport also run the Bentley GT racing programme.
