I startet to build the engine up.

The "six speed" was supposed to have a decal on top, but I painted it up instead, uding some black wash.

Also all the metal parts have been painted up.

And finaly a bit of decal work on the way, in between micro sol aplications.

I know your a bit away from it but have you an idea about how to tackle painting of the wheels ? I have half an idea but it could be a risky move

The painting of the wheels and the chrome edge of the engine finning are the two most important and difficult areas of this kit.
Going well so far.

So, I finaly managed to get on with the build.

The weels turned out to be a disaster. I tried to paint the black with enamel paint, and clean the edges with a cotton swab. This resultet in the chrome plating rubbing off :eeek:

Finaly i just repaint the whole wheel, using Vallejo metal colours.

Yeah, the wheels were the part of the build i wasnt sure how to go about it. I had intended doing what you did, only with acrilyc paint. It's a pity tamiya didnt do the wheels in two parts.
nice clean build though, looking good :thumb1:

That is a great save on the wheels if you had to strip and then refinish them....they look sweet :thumb2:
