I probably won't begin my own S-tank build for several months yet, so I had the time to order a masking set through an Australian ebay seller. I also bought the same RB barrel as you did Tommy. I figured out the correct assembly order, but I'd like to ask, what did you use to fix your barrel? CA glue?TommyKillander wrote:I guess that a precut cammo-mask is a good investment. I couldn't find the J's work mask http://www.jsworkmodel.com/popup/PPA5080.jpg anywhere close, so I decided to have a go at it DIY-style.
Yes, I used CAglue for the barrel. Acetone worked fine for cleaning up excess glue.RobBye wrote:I probably won't begin my own S-tank build for several months yet, so I had the time to order a masking set through an Australian ebay seller. Thanks papatika!papatika wrote:Nice work m8! I like the chipping very much!
Do you plan to add weathering to the tank itself? Like some splattered dry mud?
Thanks demarcation!demarcation wrote:It looks epic mate! The subtle chipping adds even more realism to the build, can't wait to see the final result!![]()
Thanks Jon!JonMW wrote:This is going to look really awesome when it's done.
Thanks for the info, Mark - it seems much easier than trying to use an airbrush. Is a toothbrush good for this ?MarkVerploeg wrote:Looks awesome
The method you mentionned with the wash can be done without a airbrush too
Just use a stiff brush and rub you finger over it when you hold it close to the model or rub it against a piece of cardboars feom a milkcarton or cerealbox
It gives the same effect and is usefull for those among us that don't own a airbrush
It does give a nice effect though and is even better when you use several colors

Thanks! Ok, I think I understand what you mean.MarkVerploeg wrote: It could work but it would be a bit big
But i actually ment a stiff paint brush
Not the soft ones you use for detail or figure painting
More like the ones you get in a model kit gift set (the ones with paints and some brushes)
I suggest you try some different brushes and test it on a scrap piece of styrene
Only swedes are crazy enough to come up with something like that....DBMiller wrote:![]()
How on earth do people deal with that splinter scheme?! It would kill me!
Thanks Mark, good luck with your build when you decide to start it!MarkVerploeg wrote:Great work Tommy
I really like this modern day stug like tank
The camo and weathering really bring it to life
Thanks Rob, it was a pleasure to do the research, build it and post updates in the buildthread.RobBye wrote:I'm sad to see this end, because I thoroughly enjoed following your progress. You did an outstanding job Tommy, and congrats on the beautiful Strv!
Awesome that you have found the build-thread for this build!Hiortintexas wrote: ↑Sat Dec 12, 2020 9:31 pm I was lazy and used a blue sharpie and got very good result.
Hey Hiortintexas,Hiortintexas wrote: ↑Mon Jan 11, 2021 3:49 pm Hi, did you keep the commander's cupola on during the camo painting ? Looks like the pattern is aligned to the hull pattern, but I did not see it on the earlier pictures where you start start the camp painting.
(I'm dreading the camo painting as this is my first try at airbrushing.
