:cheers2: Thanks guys :thumb1:

As I'm not using the front wheel (mud) guard I have to find another way to fix the headlamp and horn bracket to the forks so I tried gently drilling out the two fixing points where the front fairing attaches and accidently snapped one :wall:
So I'm going to try to make two more fixing points with some sprue and glue and pin in place when the bracket goes on later. hope its strong enough to hold it

Image

I will have to cut the other one off and clean up the joining edges then drill a .5mm pin hole and try and get a good bond.

Thanks MrB :cheers2: the brown will look better with the colour of the bike, didn't want too much black and it was too thick and high. The brown leather has a nice look to it and a little wear will add to it later.
I pinned the parts and glued them in place, paintwork suffered a little
Rear wheel guard has been masked off to do the edge detail, just need to mask off the tank after its had a polish.

Image

really small dot where the hole was filled on the top of the tank where the seat spring bracket fitted that needs polishing out but it wont be seen.
Image

I've been looking for suitable springs to use for the rear of the seat, they are as you know concave in shape so I may have to try and make some, any suggestions welcomed :)

Hi Casper, look for Asta Ento pins, I've got some that are 38mm x 0.40mm in Stainless Steel. Got mine from https://www.watdon.co.uk/acatalog/E6850 ... tml#SID=27, might be worth a look?

This may or may not be helpful as I'm not sure where to get it from atm. But stainless steel tubing is thin walled and may fit.

Needles have a small bore and could be used as the spoke and the ferrule.

I managed to fix the headlight assembly to the forks using a 1mm rod and brass tube but not sure on the angle of the headlight yet, will have to see what it looks like later on after the forks go on, I need to clean it up now and re-paint the parts gloss black

it was a bit fiddley with my fingers but after dropping it a dozen times I finally got it to stick. I have a few small parts that need gloss black so I might as well re-do the springs, Alclad chrome as you know can really smell and the Mrs wont be best pleased me spraying it in the spare room so I have to pick my moment :shifty:  :) No booth area at the moment, that's why its taking me so long to paint up parts. Weather is good today so we are off to Chester Zoo to see my relatives   I'm not a fan of zoo,s but my Granddaughter loves it :) and we have one of the best in Europe so they say. I go straight over to the Rothschild's giraffe enclosure for feeding time :)
have a great day :thumb1:

The rear brake foot peddle assembly is very basic and the kit plastic spring is awful so I tried a small spring I had lying around and a 1mm coach bolt, it looks a lot better, it works as it should now but still needs work. The heads on these micro scale BA bolts are always oversize height wise so I may try to thin them back a little before cutting to length.

Love the foot pedal, excellent modification, that is going to look amazing

Wow those custom Harley bikes are mind blowing . I am just lacing my wheels with wire like a peasant; smidge of arrogance in that write up on threaded scale wire wheels.
I would like to meet and learn from the guy with the skills, not the writer with the attitude.

Incredible work, just blows me away the things these engineers do. Most of the engines accurately run its amazing. Check out some of the miniature weapons :o

I have no trouble finding someone operating on a level that makes my work look like I am a toddler with a diaper over my head
Interestingly enough, I find it motivating, unless they are a complete jerk about it

I must say, you have been a great motivating addition to ISM and it is a true pleasure to have someone of your skill level and experience around here. Hats off to you  :thumb1:

Thanks for your very kind words Scott, you guys have made me so welcome, I thank you all :cheers2:
So much talent and experience here on the forum and so diverse its a joy to read through the amazing builds and learn new skills along the way. I'm trying to do some masks for the harley tank at the moment and it's testing my patience trying to fit the curved sides. I'm also tryng to group some parts for painting, the flash and seam lines are on every part with this kit and need cleaning up before you start.
I love chopping things up and adding what's to hand really, it's more fun but my problem is getting the scale correct using old eyes and whatever I have around me at the time. My problem is airbrushing, I have nowhere to set up a booth area at the moment so when I have a few things to spray It's a case of setting it up and doing what I can. The weather looks great today so I will try to get something painted.
Those master craftsmen are just incredible aren't they m8 :thumb1:

Hi Kev :cheers2: thanks matey
with some of the parts its easier to add instead of clean. Some parts like the oil pipe and gear shifter rod bellow are very thin and fragile but need seam lines removing so its quicker to replace with brass tube. I cut the rod in two and scraped of some material till I got a snug fit into the brass tube the same size then just superglued them in place, simple really but looks better than the plastic and is stronger.

You need to carry on with what you do best matey :cheers2: :thumb1:  Love your work

Well with the all the good weather here in sunny Wales 8-) I had chance to get some paint running through my airbrush at last. First up was a good clean

I laid down some Alclad gloss black and when dry shot some Alclad Chrome on one or two parts like the side cover, instrument panel, distributer. And all the other metallic parts were sprayed with Alclad Airframe Aluminium just for contrast. The chrome didn't sit that well but looks acceptable for what I'm after, It was the last 10mm in the bottle so I wasn't expecting shinny chrome. I clear coated with Zero clearcoat lacquer when dry.

I almost never prepaint my parts before assembly. Do you now scrape the paint off the attachment points and use Tet or just use Ca straight on.
Your method does give superior straight edge paint lines. I just worry about the bits staying together if I was to do it.
Love the mini bench I always admire it with every fresh pic.

It depends really but generally I mask the area with fluid, tape or blue tac or scrape with the back of a blade, I use sandwich wrap as well (hate the stuff  )
I use different glues but my go to instant adhesive is either Permabond or Gorilla thin or thick though I did use some cheaper stuff for the Bentley wheels.
I'm not a fan of superglue and definitely prefer Poly or Tamiya thin. I use two Canopy glues but one I cant find, the other is Zap formula 560 and dries clear, I used this on my headlamp glass.

The Clutch cover was done in Alclad Airframe aluminium and the headlamp bezzel and tool box cover in Alclad chrome, the chrome didn't come out as it should but I kinda prefer that look for this bike.

brushed the inside with silver and glued in a bulb. If you wanted the lights to work the tank is the best place for battery and switch but I wont be doing that, it just looks better with a bulb.

Zap formula 560 to fix the glass and bezel to the headlamp, a small power cable and she's ready to go on the bike.

No mate its a Maglite bulb I had spare, perfect size. Just cut the pins off and glued in in place. It looked dark and empty before and only took ten minutes :)
