MRP Mr. Paint

Post by DBMiller »

I've been thinking about buying MRP paints for a build I want to start soon. They seem to be the only brand that has the colors I want.
Has anyone here used them?

I have not but know many that do
Like or hate him, Will Pattison is a big fan of them and lots of his followers use that brand. He wont shut up about MRP
They do a lot of military colors and have a good reputation.

Thank you!
I've watched a couple of video reviews - both very positive. The only drawbacks were, for one reviewer, being lacquer based (although he said the paint didn't smell much at all); and the other reviewer (from a few years ago) was concerned about getting them in from Europe. There are US distributors now - so that isn't as much an issue.

I think I will be trying them out for at least one of my projects.

Never heard anything bad about them. As for Will P, I've only ever heard him criticize manufacturers so he's ok in my book. Its always good to see someone sticking it to the man / raging against the machine etc etc :bash: :pistols:
Its been tried and tested, it works! So don't blame the system if you're no good.

I have a few of them. They are good. But they spray really thin. You'll need lots of it to cover properly. Did only one project with them. Would a buy others ?... not sure yet... I'll have to use them on another project to be sure. But for now, as for lacquer paints, I prefer AK RC colors.

You warned me about “ scale modeler’s critique group” on FB that WP runs and is head snide commenter.

He promoted A certain gravity paint company from Florida where the guy was a sham and thief.
When I questioned WP, he just said everything was fine for me, I got free stuff. No warning videos no do not buy suggestions or indications others were having trouble. As long as he was ok, everything was good.
Guys lost large orders and $. Lost a TON of respect there.
No independent reviews exist, always something under the table.

Geez, I remember it now, apologies :th: The scale modelers critique group. Now that's a name I haven't heard for a long time (channeling Ben Kenobi).

As for the promotions side, that all sounds a bit naughty.

As for my poor memory, I've seen older posts on here from me that I have absolutely no recollection of posting. Its either a massive conspiracy of JFK size proportions or I'm just getting old?

Ah ha things are starting to gel in the ole mind now, there's always been something about WP that didn't sit well with me and I couldn't put my finger on it except a bit quick to go on the offensive.
