Awesome dude. When I get round to building mine I am going to be using this thread as reference for sure. What colour did you use for the interior, and how did you get the highlighted/faded look to the turret inside?

Thx for the interest...
The colours I used for the interior was Humbrol Matt 34 "White" and Matt 148 "Random Tan"
I added the random to breakup the brightness of the white colour but not so much as to change it. Cant remember the ration as I mixed till it looked about right..
Then the shading in the turret was by airbrushing thin layers on top of each other so to build up the white in certain areas and leaving other with less coats of white

the red arrows shows the directions I airbrushed in and the green colour sparypatern on the side shows how I layered the the paint to give a darker and lighter look to the turret
Hope this helps

Re: 1/35 Trumpeter Chinese 152mm Type 83 Self-propelled Gun

Here is some picture of the dry fit for the turret and how it looks inside through the doors......

Hope the pic looks OK, tried to get the most focus on the inside of the turret.
What else has been done.....
The main gun has been weathered and mounted.....
Currently busy building the machine gun that goes on top of the turret.
Post more pic soon of the build

Re: 1/35 Trumpeter Chinese 152mm Type 83 Self-propelled Gun
Hallo guys
Sorry for not posting in some time, but my job has taken over my life
But I have managed to do the camo on the Type83 with allot of issues concerning the paint I use and the Airbrush putting up a fight.
Will post pics a bit later 2day
Enjoy

Re: 1/35 Trumpeter Chinese 152mm Type 83 Self-propelled Gun
Ok....... so here goes with another update
First off......the camo and yes my airbrush gave me allot of stress, so its not perfect but it will do.......

I mixed my paints 50/50 and well, I would have like the dark green to be darker
but was having soooooooooo much issues with my airbrush that I decide this will do
Then after a day of the clear cote drying, decals where applied

Please excuse the workbench.............ITS A MESS, and always looks that way
After all the decals I glued the door on with superglue as I was afraid the Tamiya extra-thin would react with the gloss cote...

I placed one of the shell fire by this tank in the back so as to see the actual scale of these massive projectiles...
Unfortunately I did take pic of the track cause my phone had died but the are also dry
brushed and finished and all the rubber on the wheel have been painted and waiting now to dry....
Hope you enjoyed......

Looks cracking mate. Really nice camo scheme there. If you don't mind what paints did you use? Are you painting the white on the wheels like the Chinese seem to love doing?

Most definitely did the white wall on the wheels as that's what make these Chinese vehicles so different from others.

The paints I used was Humbrol Enamel Matt 94 BROWN/YELLOW for the sand color
Matt 86 LIGHT OLIVE for Russian Green
149 DARK GREEN for the dark Green

Re: 1/35 Trumpeter Chinese 152mm Type 83 Self-propelled Gun
Hi guys
I regret to inform that I will not be able to finish
in time
Last night when I put on the tracks the tension snapped off both the rear idlers
so now I have to make a plan to put then back as the broke off flush with the hull
But I will finish the kit as its coming along beautiful and is allot different from the usual WW2 armour I build.
Thanks for the support guys

Re: 1/35 Trumpeter Chinese 152mm Type 83 Self-propelled Gun
Ladies and gentleman
Here is my final show-off
(Didn't think I was gonna make it)
The kit wasn't that bad but had allot of pin marks to fix. There was no fit issues what so ever.
There was one or two misunderstandings with the instruction and the actual parts.
The tracks where a bit on the short side and broke both the idler wheels off, so I had to change the angle to get them to fit
I used Humbrol paints to paint the model......
And pastel chalks to do the weathering....
I'm quite happy with the final product, so enjoy...............

Thank you again to all the support from you guys, really appreciated it.
And this was a new build for me, as I usually only build WW2 armor.
Thanks again...........

Sorry to necro this old post, but I just bought this kit (got a killer deal, $16.00) and this is the best build reviews I have seen of it. I have to say, after seeing your step by step progress, I am stoked for this kit! Outstanding work. I hope mine comes out even half as good as yours
