We'll Stop Them Here - Tomcat's Puma

Post by Tomcat64 »

Just managing to get this done in time - my fifth and final GB/SiG entry for 2017. This is Dragon's 1/35 Sd.Kfz.234/2 "Puma" on a MiniArt diorama base with figures from MasterBox and one from Tamiya. This one did get a bit bogged down towards the end for a variety of reasons so many thanks to everyone that followed the build and offered support, encouragement and the usual banter - it's all very much appreciated.

Onto the photos; a quiet street somewhere in Europe in spring 1945

The peace is disturbed by the sound of an engine as an eight-wheeled armoured car rolls slowly into view and rumbles to a halt

Image

And a rag-tag force of German troops gathers to discuss their last ditch efforts to hold back the inevitable advance of the allied armies

Some shots of the Puma itself

And a few angles of the finished diorama

The build thread is here for anyone that wants to see how this came together.

Thanks as always for looking - Happy New Year folks :cheers2:
Cheers, Neil

Great effort. I suck at dioramas and they intimidate me :). Both vehicle and environment look really good.

Thanks mate - appreciate it!

Don't let them intimidate you!! Just treat each component as a build in it's own right.

Hi @Tomcat64 , just looking at this build for inspiration for my Panzerjager diorama, and wondered what you used for the rubble and dust? Is it homemade from something I might have lying around? Did you glue the rubble down?

Cheers

Hey Rob - I got my rubble from DioDump in the Netherlands (link here) and they shipped pretty quickly to the UK. I'll also use some fine sand and aquarium gravel in my mix depending on what I'm trying to achieve. I know some guys have used crushed kitty litter (unused!) as well. I tend to scatter it about and then use ultra-runny CA glue to get it all fixed in place, but that needs to be used sparingly and also needs another matte coat over the top when it's finished.

If you have a look and don't fancy getting a whole bag then drop me a PM and I'll send you up a ziplock back with a sample :)
Cheers, Neil
